How ungrateful. You dont see that the Partner is taking the team out when most firms dont give a flying f! Secondly, your partner is trying to expand your horizons, you can try and then chose not to partake. Imagine youre at a client dinner and they serve something that you dont like.... will you get up and walk away or have a meltdown and demand your daal chawal and butter chicken. There are more flavourful dishes outside North India - open your mind and stop with the whining. Seriously how ungrateful can you get?

While leaving the sweatshop you're at is the most sound decision in this situation but ask yourself these questions before making a decision. (a) Do you have any existing liability/debt which you can't pay off without a job?(b) Do you have an emergency fund for at least 3 months? If any of these questions are in the negative. Just think before quitting. No job is worth your mental health, you can always figure out your life later and quit these jobs without a backup but with a major asterisk.

Please quit right now. You should not suffer like this and definitely should not self harm. You have 2 years of experience at a tier 1 and it will help you land a good job after this as well. Go to some other place maybe at a mid size firm, I understand the pay might be a bit less than what you're earning right now but you would also get some relief, some time to work on your mental and physical health. Do your DD before joining any place and you'll be better off than what you'suffering here. I hope you get better!

one thing i can vouch for is the senior-junior culture in gnlu. the fact that the student community barely knows each other is a plain lie. gnlu is in the outskirts of the city, and is a residential campus. everyone more or less knows each other and there is a great camaraderie between seniors and juniors, considering the student body can only stand with and support each other when faced with admin related issues.

gnlu also has a pretty good sports culture; the sports equipment and facilities are frankly speaking, not the best, but its okay enough for a government college; what keeps this culture alive are the dedicated athletes and sportspersons on campus! (im one too)

the "tight knit" community of RML is more toxic than you'll realise, where a downward spiral is celebrated and anyone trynna make a name for themself is put down. there still is a very weird (almost homo-erotic) ragging culture which has not done the uni any good.

you might not want a placement per se (a tad too early to decide if you ask me) but end of the day youd still like to be educated right? that thing is a luxury here at RML.

Lastly the sports culture? last year rml teams did not go to any sports fests because ALL our exams(midsems and end sems) somehow shared dates with sports fests.

over 90 percent of my batch that graduated this year got jack-squat placements, and barely anyone made it to god unis to pursue their masters.

youd think all of this atleast gives you some healthy social life/parties? lol nope. all that admin does is police students in campus. no parties, no outings post 10 and barely any fests.

ANY OTHER UNI youll be better off than rmlnlu.

rml student here. go for GNLU EYES CLOSED. RMLNLU is skeleton of a potential it never really fulfilled. The VC seems to not have any other interests than burning the college down to the ground. the faculty is borderline illiterate, courses are outdated. The "judiciary selection ratio" that you see online is despite RML, not because of it.

Cherry on top f it all? BCI has not recognised the uni since 2023. like sure it will ultimately work out, but as of right now any student admitted 2023 onwards is not pursuing a valid degree.

wherever you go, just don't ever come to citadel! the whole place feels like a gas chamber. there's barely any communication, very little work is actually given, and half the time you don't know what's going on. the only person who consistently feels human is the office administrator.

Language is a great barrier indeed. As for the accent if depends on whether your accent is thick or not. (And further if it's the standard Golden Triangle city wala accent or not). I know of a person with a very dehati (UPBihar villagelike) English accent who worked in a Tier 1 law firm. He couldn't cope up for more than a year and left the firm.

With movements in the IP space : SAM IP Partners moving to Trilegal, Khaitan (Ankur Sangal setting his own shop), who are the go to IP partners in the IP practices at the top tier 'full service firms' with a well rounded practice with the ability to handle the entire the life cycle, i.e. ability to handle prosecution, litigation as well as transactions with a good culture within their team. The understanding is that other than Khaitan most other full service top tier firms focus more on transaction work as compared to prosecution and litigation. Similarly some partners are known to have a focus on only patents or only transactions or only prosecution. Views?

My question is, since students cannot rely on the college for learning the law especially in the initial year, what do students then do to catch up to the NLU students from the same year?

And secondly, how are students at GLC able to secure internships without the same knowledge of law that nlu Without classroom learning and possibly time spent on learning on our own, how do students manage both internships and self study?

Are these students who are interning all year round or for the most part, taking part in competitions, writing papers etc, also able to score well and maintain a good rank?

One more question that i would like to ask which i hadn't put forth earlier is regarding the ADR competitions at GLC, I have heard it extremely competitive (as expected), but still if you can tell whether students there get equal opportunities to participate, by that i mean to build the competition cv from smaller competitions to bigger ones ofcourse. Also are participants supposed to arrange for their own funds to compete for national or local level competitions?, I have seen funding Boucher for international competitions, not sure of for the smaller ones. Is there any specific criteria where you have to be in a certain year of study to be able to take part in certain competitions or everything is skill based?

2026 law graduate here. I am currently working at a listed company in a compliance role, with most of my work involving licensing and regulatory matters. I have completed around six months in the role.

I have received an opportunity from a small boutique law firm that would provide broader exposure to corporate and commercial work, but it comes with a pay cut (₹6 LPA to ₹5 LPA). For those who have made a similar transition, would you prioritise learning and law firm exposure at this stage, or stay in-house for longer?

From what I’ve seen, only a small number of people were actually placed through college, while most of us have been trying on our own. I’m curious to know how things are going for everyone else.

Personally, I’m finding the market much tougher than I expected. It’s been about a month of actively applying and I haven’t had much success. My assessment internship did not convert into a full-time role, and since then I’ve been applying extensively.

I’ve reached out to seniors on LinkedIn, texted partners, sent cold emails, applied through firm websites, followed up wherever possible, but most responses have either been that there are no A-0 vacancies or I’ve simply been left on seen. The bigger concern is that I’m barely getting interviews at all.

For those who are still searching, how has your experience been? Have you been getting interviews? Are firms hiring A-0s right now or is the market genuinely this slow?

My biggest worry right now is the actual return on investment (ROI). I have researched a lot online and watched videos about the legal job market. The general view is that getting a decent-paying job at a corporate law firm is very difficult after a 3-year LLB from DU or private colleges. Most top firms seem to prefer 5-year NLU graduates.Is it even possible to get a decent-paying job after doing a 3-year LLB from DU or a private college?Because of this doubt, I am wondering if it is safer to drop law entirely and go all-out for government exams using my B.Sc. degree right now.
