Hi, I assume most of the responses will be useless here so let me respond. As an A0 in the gen corp, pe/vc team, I am tasked to do the following:

1. First cuts of term sheets, MOUs and transaction documents (SHA, SSA, SPA, etc.). Then once the SA reviews my first cut he’ll mostly have ballon comments for me. I am supposed to resolve this and make changes accordingly. Add 1-2 more rounds of back and forth between me and the SA. Then the SA will finalise, I will proofread and it will go the Partner.

2. Due diligence. You will be allotted chapters for which u will be responsible

I interned with SAM Delhi in the previous month, and neither me or my co-interns received work, unless you don't pester your associates, who ghost you and do not even bother to meet you while in the same office! SAM internships are a freaking joke, at least in the Delhi office. The HR is also quite unresponsive to the concerns of the interns. I have heard quite differently for other firms, so I have no clue what SAM is doing.

IBC is fairly straightforward when compared to complex areas such as FEMA, Tax etc. which involve sifting through a ton of notifications and also require decent foundational knowledge - in comparison it should not be too difficult to grasp basic IBC concepts.

The NCLT and IBBI websites are also always upgrading, which makes it much easier to navigate through cases/orders/notifs so you do not need to worry about that either.

Now coming to the preparation bit, you can do the following things to develop a foundation for your internship and possibly a career in the field (if you like it ofc):

1. Apprise yourself with basic terminologies that lawyers routinely use for communicating/talking about IBC - such as CIRP, RP, SRA, IP, IRP, RP, FC, OC etc. that you can easily find in the Definitions section of the Code. (The IBC handbook is a decent tool to learn these which is available on IBBI's website).

2. Once you understand these terms, you should learn about the actual procedure/stages that occur under the IBC (From a Section 7/9 application to all the way up until Liquidation). Think of it like knowing what the pieces of a puzzle are (as per 1.) and then putting the puzzle together (2.).

3. If you manage to do (1.) and (2.), it would be immensely helpful for you if you read landmark judgements surrounding the IBC - such as Essar Steel, Swiss Ribbons, Kensington Boulevard etc. to name a few. It will be easier to understand these judgements since you already know the procedure by now.

4. (Optional) Finally, you can read up on specialist aspects of IBC such as Real Estate insolvency, Pre-packaged insolvency which will definitely give you an edge in your internship.

You should be sorted if you do all of the above.

I am a 3rd year law student that many times I have noticed that people are having discussions on different law firms, their partners, what teams they manage what projects they had done. I barely know law firms names forget about partner names and other things.

How do guys get all this info is their any platform where do you guys get this info. Am i missing something. As the title suggests. I was recently shocked to find a very reputed advocate earning a lot paying their juniors 12k a month, which is not a salary that would suffice in Bangalore no matter how frugal of a lifestyle you live.

Idk if everyone should follow it or not but I personally never go to BD meetings with the prejudice of it being BD. The whole meeting gets cringe when you constantly hear the other person just sell themselves "we can do this for you xyz, take care of this xyz".

Instead of this I actually go with the view of making a friend who's gonna ask maybe 10 legal questions and maybe months later would actually require my help in enforcing one of those.

I think there is a lot of incentive tbh and looking around I see people warming up to the idea of tech in law. Obviously there will also be a manual check due to the stakes involved but the rate of work happening will increase exponentially specially when it comes to grunt work. (For eg - while preparing DRHP when a company is going public, drafting etc).
