If it's a transactions document, start with the Contents, get a macro understanding of what the document contains, and then start reading.
If these are Court pleadings, just start reading like a story book. You'll find facts often repeated. Make a short note for yourself.
Look, i’ll be brutally honest w you- there are days when it feel like the whole thing is too long, considering how every transaction takes months. for a job or even an internship at capital markets, you need loads of patience, and a great attention to detail. All in all, it’s not a bad job at all, you just need to have a good working environment and everything will be hunky dory.
Having said that, let me know if you reside in Delhi, because I can help you with a good long term internship at a firm here, that might make you love cap marks.
So, will you be able to make personal use on your laptop? Sure, to the point that it isn't inappropriate or social media, and as long as you don't mind the IT team having full access to whatever you see and do. I've never seen anyone be reprimanded for these things though.
There will be a personal folder too but you can’t keep much on that.
In most people's opinion, Mumbai is a balance of everything and weighs much higher for safety (women and general). Of course, some people value certain things over others and choose other cities, and that is perfectly fine. Having a hate b*ner for a city that is the financial lifeline of India does no one any good. All said and done we are long ways from even standing on the same pedestal as Chinese T1 cities for.... anything except individual freedoms. I personally love Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai and have a grudging respect for Chandigarh, even though it feels souless (my own opinion, feel free to scoff). If you can't tell, I place planned cities on a pedestal.
If you're getting into the profession, please never make such connections again. We can be sad that aesthetically, a lesser known Chinese city looks much better than one of our top metros, but we have to also make sure that we compare apples to apples. If I had to critique myself, it would be that I need to draft stuff better; we all have stuff we need to get better at.
The only solution is to listen to the tunes of Jai Santoshi Maa and go to peaceful sleep

A bit about myself - I have been working hard studying the law but I lack good amount of internship experience, I have some achievements in speaking activities and have engaged in certain other adr comps and doing more competitions, writing article, at the moment too
I can get an internship at one of these places through contacts ( I am grateful for this and I don’t want to come off as arrogant by trying to be choosy while being undeserving) but I wanted to know peoples opinion on what you all would choose because -
I want to understand where would I be a better fit for working long term as I want to try converting this into a job ( I do my research but people’s experiences will be helpful)
Is also wanted to know where I can have more space to learn - while I understand the expectations law firms especially prestigious ones have from an intern, if there are teams or seniors that help out in learning a bit more that others I would want to know about those

I am 2023 batch graduate from a non-NLU college. I have been practising in transactional corporate since over an year now. I have dealt mostly in startup funding and a couple of VC transactions. I have done a lot of gen corp in this time. I am looking to get placed at a decent Tier 1/2 law firm.
