Many top lawyers in the UK - including law firm partners and top KCs - didn't read law at uni, and instead chose to do something else, only doing what they call a law 'conversion course' (along with a year of vocational training), making their law study only two years in total, before they started working. People with this kind of a profile have included famous judges such as Lord Sumption (who read History at Oxford), Lord Bingham (likewise (I hope the name Tom Bingham at least is familiar to you, as he wrote a famous book called 'The Rule of Law')), former UK Supreme Court president Lord Neuberger (who took a degree in Chemistry at Oxford before going into a career in investment banking and only then switching to law) and former Lord Chancellor Lord McCay (who studied Physics at Oxford). And if all these people and their accomplishments mean nothing to you (despite the fact that they have achieved a thousand times more than anything you are ever likely to achieve) and the only thing in England and Wales that matters to you is magic circle law firms and their recruitment processes, it may surprise you to know that many MC and elite American firms' UK operations within the square mile have about 50% of their trainee recruitment from non-lawyers who took conversion courses in law, not the typical LLB pathway; not forgetting, by the way, that UK law students study three (maximum four) years at law schools, with their law schools meaning much more than even the best NLU in India.
2. Lawyers and law professors in the U.S. and Canada read for a J.D. after completing at least an undergraduate degree in another subject, and sometimes graduate degrees as well. Look at this profile of a private law theory scholar at UCLA (especially the qualifications) and tell me if she sounds like an unserious person to you.

In my time, seniors would literally stand on our backs getting any work done and not allow us to be creative, yes thats wrong, not reviewing your silly mistakes because you just graduated law school!

It took me nearly a month to receive confirmation, so timelines can vary, especially with Tier 1 firms. Sometimes, candidates with connections are slotted in at the last minute without hesitation.
My advice: Call the HR and politely mention that you need to start making arrangements, such as packing and securing accommodation. Ask them if they could kindly confirm your selection status for the internship and if not, whether they can inform you so you can explore other options. This direct approach may help you get a quicker response, as i had to call the HR like 5-7 times for this man.
