Leaving any job after less than a year reflects poorly on your CV. Future employers also want to hire people who will not up and leave at the slightest inconvenience. Stick around for at least a year unless it's completely intolerable (which from your description is not the case).

I feel if it’s too torturous for you, then don’t wait to simply get burnt out. If you don’t have financial obligations on you, leave the job and find better opportunities, you will def get something or if you can start looking before actually leaving it

What about someone who does 3 year llb after studying humanities (including legal studies in 11th and 12th) and then pursued majored in political science and minored in economics? I did so simply because committing 5 years of my life to law was something I wasn't sure at 17. I did not want to get burnt out during the 4th year. Now as a 20 year old graduate I've never been more sure about my career including specialization because I have a bird's-eye view of the law curriculum since class 12th

Exactly. Also, they should first change their names to SLU : State Law Universities. Neither are they central nor of eminence. The actual national universities are DU, JNU, AMU, JMI and BHU. The actual eminence institutions are Jindal. NLUs are just money grabbers. Higher studies are not worth it there.

It's not a normal entrance exam paper. It's UP, Delhi, UK, HP, MP JUDICIARY papers. Pre & Mains. Objective & subjective papers. Even to the point of sitting in interview boards. It's not your one day cramming corrupt NLU entrance exams that you crack just cause you studied in an English medium school. Moreover, cite any legal research coming out of any law school in India, and you won't find even one that's worth their salt in the international market.

Cite any research from NLUs including the ones from the Messiah himself, that are worth it ? Can you ? Also, the fact that NLUs have no role in judiciary exams shows how relevant they are. A judiciary or psc paper being set & checked by these institutions shows that they're reliable enough.

A toxic workplace is a combination of the following:-

1. An insecure intermediate boss, who doesn't let his/her subordinates shine, for fear of being outshone, and who takes out his/her frustrations on subordinates by bullying/shaming/abuse.2. An unresponsive and opaque system which doesn't offer adequate remedy/response for people who are stuck with bad bosses/superiors, leaving people who take out their frustrations on their peers/subordinates, or become apathetic.

3. One or two oldtimers who are apathetic and cynical.

4. Lastly, a compensation/appraisal system that is broken.

The above instances are exaggerated or extreme examples, but micromanaging is not just these extreme events but also regular or routine practices where you are not treated as an adult and every little thing is to be done to the exact specifications of a human being who is usually 2-5 years older to you.

Just saying this so the absolute psychos who micromanage don’t think they’re not micromanagers because they didn’t shout about a comma etc. You know the kind of ridiculous stuff you’ve done and said I personally wish you hell.

- The B.A. LL.B course in Bhopal is better, while the B.Sc and BBA courses available in Jodhpur are unavailable in Bhopal. Bhopal has a new cyber security course, but it is in its infancy.- Jodhpur has fewer reservations in student intake, so the student community is more diverse.

- The Professors in both colleges are equally blah, mooting, sports and academic cultures are similar.

- Bhopal is a more congenial and prettier city than Jodhpur.

- Local placements are similar; Jodhpur has a few more T.C.'s to its credit.

Have worked with rupali. She's very good. Quality most important. I have been at receiving end of comments on drafts and after factoring her comments, I was convinced on many occasions that she was right. You have to adapt to working style which is easy. Short term it seems difficult, but learning is very good across years. Rest of the comments I don't have views. But its small setup and one year old so they might be building some parts like HR.

I graduated from a tier-3 private college and worked my up to the corporates law scene somehow. Currently have 1+ y PQE in general corporate and transactions. However, What I feel is that my growth is being stunted due to absence of a professional certification, such as Company Secretary course. I thought of giving the exam few times in the past but due to time constraints, i never gave proper attempt. Also, since my current pay is almost equal to that a qualified CS, i felt it irrelevant to pursue CS at this stage. However, I do know that it will come to bite me back some time in the future.

Of all the other additional certifications I know of - LLM, MBL, MBA, CFA , none would supplement my professional growth lie CS would, however, It is a time devoting and uncertain course which i am skeptical to take up at this point due to other professional commitments. What can i do, if i can, to make up for the lack of the professional degree ?

Since the last hearing, there have been developments that work both in favour of and against the WB govt, so expect fireworks in the Sibal-Menaka vs Tushar Mehta vs Karuna Nandy-Bikash Bhattacharya battle!

In favour of the WB govt:

- Lots of trolling of DYC online by BJP/Left leaders and student protestors, on the allegation that he is going soft on the WB government. This makes all of them liable for contempt of court.

- Doctors at RG Kar are striking even after DYC told them not to. Again contempt of court.

- Online trolling of Kapil Sibal, Menaka G and various left-liberal intellectuals. Could invite action.

- Every other day protestors are blocking roads in Kolkata and inconveniencing the public.

Against the WB govt:

- Abhaya’s parents have told the media that the police tried to bribe them and ask them to accept the case as a suicide. The police hurriedly cremated the body.

- Alleged that the police circulated a morphed crime scene photo cropping out the presence of a TMC leader (Avik De)

- Proven that there were no attempts to seal the crime scene and evidence destruction a real possibility

- Abhaya’s colleagues have allegedly told the CBI that a massive coverup is being attempted.l and given names in an envelope.

- Protestors, including women, beaten up by TMC goons in Cooch Behar. Multiple reports of protestors being abused and harassed.

Do the in-house job, but start a side hustle in what you like. You can use your money from work to fund your hustle. This isn’t a hobby, but something you see will become your full time job later on.

Try to get in touch with people in that industry as working alone is very demotivating.

You need to time to explore. Unfortunately in Indian households, we are not taught that skill or patience to explore things to find our passion

The moment you do something only to appease your parents and not from your own interest, chances are high that you will regret it in the long run. It is very difficultt to build or sustain interest or motivation in a field that you were hesitant to even enter.

Out of curiosity, what UG course would you have done if you had the choice? And why did you continue with LLM if you found UG law uninteresting even after 5 years?

Menaka’s dad has written an article in Deccan Herald condemning the right-wing trolling of her. He has made made the elementary point that lawyers have a constitutional duty to represent their client, and clients have a constitutional right to have legal counsel, however unpleasant the task may be for the lawyer. Thus Menaka is actually furthering the cause of fundamental rights and justice and not harming it. He has said that this is a long tradition in their illustrious family of lawyers.

So we should all close the matter here. Let’s respect Menaka for not only working on popular human rights causes, but also unpopular causes, both equally in the interests of justice and as a servant of the court.

If as a law student you think a human rights lawyer should only work on popular causes, then that lawyer will be failing in his/her duty and YOU will be failing in your duty as a law student!
