I am part of the batch of 2026. I have already done one T1 internship and have another one coming up soon. Looking to intern with the Trilegal TMT team in BLR hopefully in January. Application through the website makes no difference, is there any other way I can procure an internship? College RCC not an option, since they have finished their applications and I have no contacts either. Any advice? Is it too late to apply?

I am a final-year law student from the Batch of 2025. Unfortunately, PPOs and campus placements haven't worked out as expected, and I am exploring alternative avenues for securing a position with a reputable law firm. I was wondering if it would be appropriate to reach out to partners directly after graduation to inquire about direct interview opportunities. Has there been history of any good firms doing that?

Recently, HNLU Released its placement report for the class of 2024. The numbers seem much better than the situation for the 2025 batch. Out of the 67 interested students, 38 received job offers. How is seniors speaking to an associate to convince him/her to stay on, an unattractive practice? It’s not like juniors discuss their feelings of exit before putting in papers. What SAM is doing is infact the correct way, they discuss and try dissuading kids. Unless they use the sessions to blackmail or harass, which I am guessing they don’t.

Associates should try to hear the seniors and explain their position also.

Central universities do not have decent law faculty other than a few exceptional people. Nor do they 'absorb' PhD candidates into faculty cohort like the way you hinted at. All central university recruitments take place via open advertisements where the PhD candidates will have to compete with external people. There is no particular advantage in interdisciplinary work in most of those universities, because faculty from other departments will barely spend any time with you to guide your work, since you're not their responsibility. There is also no central university other than DU, the law department of which is well known within the country. Even DU is known only because of its age, not recent quality. The fees part is accurate though.

NLU PhDs are scam. If you've qualified for JRF then it works anywhere, but if not then the financial burden of going through a PhD will be a torture. Moreover, at the end of the day, which I've time & again pointed out, and it's been down voted, NLUs are state Universities. And apart from the legal fraternity, majority don't care. On the other hand, central Universities are the way to go. They charge less fees, therefore you save enough for conferences and other work. They help secure faculty position in the same or affiliated colleges. Everyone knows them since they're central Universities. Moreover, interdisciplinary work is much easier.

So the standard choice should always be DU, BHU, JNU, IITs, IIMs >> NLUs for PhD.

Other than essentials, I genuinely just made repayments for the most part. Moving to Mumbai didn't come cheap and took multiple loans for a bunch of things. Those of you who are from the same city that your T1 job is at, I don't know if y'all realise just how much money you're saving.

Not at all. My argument isn’t a personal indictment of Mr. Karia’s qualifications or a blanket condemnation of the collegium’s decision. It’s not about presuming that these qualities are lacking in this particular individual. Rather, it’s about emphasizing the broader principles and standards that we, as a society, must uphold when appointing judges to the bench.

Same as above. I just joined in a boutique law firm (Batch of 2024) in Chennai where my boss is absent and relatively no work. I want start job hunting. Can I do it while I'm in employment or should I resign and then look. Also, what happens if they call my boss for a referral?

Those of you who keep raking up the Dhankar NUJS issue, please note that it was a small minority of NUJS students (45 students out of 600) who did that without informing anyone. It was extremely unethical of them to do so. The overwhelming majority of students did not support it. You may read this news report in the TOI, which confirms that.

You have only two options -

Try your luck at boutique law firms like I did. They pay anywhere from 15-25k and the work is generally mixed in nature - advisory,gen corp, litigation etc.

Or

Join an LPO or process outsourcing job at one of the companies in gurgaon or noida .They pay decently but word of caution, you can get laid off at any moment.

Congenital heart problem since childhood, according to news reports. In fact, there are many such people with health issues, but they keep it to themselves and lead normal lives on the outside, so no one knows. I know one Jindal grad who looks perfectly normal and even does dancing. Later I got to know she is 90% blind and can’t read books in normal font.
