Don't worry about it, they have choosen you based on all these facts. We all come across work on which we have previously worked on, doesn't mean we are less competent.

Read up on the basics, sleep like there's no tomorrow (God knows you won't be able to get even 7hrs daily once you start) and be extremely proud of yourself it is not easy to land a good job in this country in any field.

I want to start by saying that I feel immensely lucky and grateful for the position I'm in, but I still felt the need to vent and hear from others who might be in the same situation. Last semester, I received a PPO from a well-known firm (though they've been declining recently, lol) and was thrilled. However, I thought it was all just luck—the presentation topic, the research I worked on—everything was something I had previously encountered. After receiving the PPO, I became a bit negligent about my academics, though I still maintained a steady GPA. This semester, however, seeing others who didn’t make the cut on day zero—many of whom are more hardworking and more competent has given me a bit more of this imposter syndrome. I only have two subjects this semester, only mon-tue, and then nothing else, so I feel like I'm wasting time. I’m worried that I might not be cut out for the A0 life and I'm a bit scared. I don't even have a mandatory internship, so I'm unsure how to gain more experience or what to focus on. Could you please suggest ways to cope and avoid feeling useless after transitioning from law student to A0? [mostly so i dont get fired lol]

Because the NLSIU students were very engaged in my classes. Asking very relevant questions, making a lot of effort to do the reading and assignments, etc. I was amazed at how hard they worked, because this was a short-credit course and some of the students already had job offers. One of the students later published an article on the subject. He emailed me to thank me for introducing him to the topic. Another thing I found is that they all came to class early.

In contrast, NUJS students were often distracted in class and not really paying attention. A few were yawning and one of the students later told me that it was because they stayed up late for project work, fest work etc. Some students used to show up late as well. I received the same feedback from a law firm partner who taught at NUJS (from a top corporate law firm).

Also, at NUJS many of the questions put to me were irrelevant and meant to feign interest in the hope of impressing me. For example, it's like I am teaching you about the planet Mars and you make a totally irrelevant point saying that Neil Armstrong landed on the moon in 1969 and you would like to know my views on it!! You can make out who is trying to flatter/impress and who has a genuine point to make.

One of my friend said that ILS is losing its glory, and there is no such scope of doing great after passing from this law school.

Only and only if you are in your ex's good books. My ex-boss is so insecure and needlessly vindictive, she makes sure that I get screwed even in referral checks. Wherever you go, I hope you never get a vindictive boss. Having one can be a career curve ball or worse, a death sentence. I no longer have her or that law firm on my CV, but smashing this career curve ball out of the park was next to impossible and I only have god to thank for it.

1. King and Partridge (Tax - DT and IDT, Corporate Litigation): As an intern, you aren't assigned a team, but you can take work from any team.

Depends a bit on what you want and need. Along with the usual, T1,T2 firms, which come with their positives and negatives.

Having said that, if you have some(1-2 years) decent experience and are demonstrably industrious. And are willing to consider not the usual big names and and assisting role as the 2nd chair.

Delhi is in some ways spoilt for choice with decent sized filing Chambers and particularly AoR offices. With a mix of SC/DHC/Insolvency/Electricity/Arbitration matters such offices can be gold, provided one is will to work hard.

You are not really making any argument, merely hypotheticals, that too trollish. It is a fact that the electoral bonds have been used by multiple people and companies to get breaks later from the ruling party, state and central levels, which is precisely the reason that they had been created for. Hence regardless of their manner of creation, they remain susceptible to criticism.

She undoubtedly has excellent diction, accent and confidence while speaking, and she has studied at top universities abroad. But I felt her remarks were too generic, e.g. "patriarchy is responsible". The main problem is corruption/incompetence of the police and lower judiciary. That should have been the focus.

I've known this person, Sreyashi Ray, an NLU grad. Not sure which NLU. She had done some great work supporting the Jharkhand Government and other NGO initiatives during the pandemic. A very bright young lady and a gem of a person. Wish more law grads would be like her. She's also quite young, around 30 probably. Hope these people go on to get the happiness that they deserve for their good work.
