I have asked this question because, till now wherever i've sent my CV they either directly reject or directly give internship. And interview has always been on telephonic.

And even for example I've interned at X firm and applying for Z firm, will the associate/Partner/HR will remember my CV till the time I intern. Will they refer it post internship or during the internship? Will that CV be in their record? and what'll be the effect.

Also, if they got to know, what will they do? Will they inform that firm?

The entire narrative is misleading. The video is clearly cropped and edited to suit interests of one side. Those very intoxicated students engaged in physical confrontation, assault and criminal intimidation against the faculties when they tried to stop them from taking ragging of first years. They went to the extent of even hurling abuses on those faculties' doors. No one is innocent these days. Don't come to conclusion without knowing what the other side has alleged.

Hey, I recently started law school too, and my situation is quite similar to yours. I got into a Tier 3 nlu but ended up going to a private uni instead. I too struggle with anxiety and ADHD, both of which are yet to be diagnosed but I'm a little hesitant to approach a therapist.

My anxiety is mostly manageable during the day but it gets intolerably worse at night. I cannot sleep well and sometimes not at all, due to which I'm not performing well in my exams either.

College counselling is really not helping at all and I'm not even able to reach them, for they don't respond to the emails or anything.

I suggest telling your parents about what you're feeling and going through without alarming them too much. Seek counselling online or offline in your city, whichever you find convenient. If your college counsellors are anything unlike mine, do approach them. I don't really know anything about placements or the kind of jobs after college but I'll say this- Don't worry too much, you're not late. We've just started after all. Let things unfold slowly as they come.

Many of us are overwhelmed and confused. Talk to your friends from school and try doing things/hobbies you like too. Take it slow, take it small. Let's not give up, just yet

Don't worry, it happens when you join. We all went through it. And it's fine, things take time. Just focus on yourself, go to gym, be spiritual, talk to your parents or your well-wishers, never blame yourself for anything.

And lastly, don't worry about anything, it's just your first year, you must be tired after CLAT. Enjoy your company, instead of telling yourself that you are sad.

Now, about me, I'm in my 3rd year and been there. And still here. But then one thing I understood, the more you blame yourself the more you enter that phase of sadness.

Right now, instead of thinking about what will happen after 5 years, do this:

1. Go to class daily, and don't use mobile. Talk to your faculties.

2. Make your projects seriously, No Chat Gpt, write on your own. Slowly, you will learn how to write. Take help of your faculties and seniors, don't hesitate at all.

3. Read Newspaper daily (just editorial part, if you feel overwhelmed).

4. Don't compare yourself with anyone, at all. It will hurt you only.

5. Instead of thinking about what will happen, step up. If any opportunity comes, let's say for presenting a paper. You may not be knowing how things works, but you will put yourself in that situation and eventually learn. Just grab those small opportunities.

Don't repeatedly tell yourself that you are sad, don't feel guilty of anything. Instead be grateful for things which you have. Have faith in God.

They will ask you to do simple math, like percentages etc. Was also asked questions from CV first. Then they ask about interest areas, and then ask you questions from your answers to that question. They would also like to know precisely why you're interested in resolut, and they will ask you what you know about their firm, the people, the transactions they've done etc. So focus on that.

If this is for an internship, please know that while they term it as an HR interview, it is a misnomer and it is in actuality a technical interview. When I appeared for the interview, an Associate took up the interview and asked questions mostly from CV and math questions like converting 1 million USD into INR.

No firm has the time to initiate legal action, and it can never be worth the legal costs, so they'll never bother. That said, be sure that your partner will badmouth you in their circle and your credibility within the same niche groups of practice area and/or city will take a hit before you even get to starting it — that won't matter much though unless you decide to switch pretty soon again. This is because if that happens then people will try to ask around about you, and given your lack of experience, they might even ask some of the people you've interned for a longer period with or done callbacks with.

Apart from your personal consequences like these, naturally the firm will also be pretty cross with your PCC/RCC and might just hire much lesser juniors moving forward or skip your college altogether. Might not mean much to you, but you'll indirectly have costed someone a job opportunity — which is why in colleges the general advice that committees give is to not pull stuff like this.

No antitrust teams have ever or will ever work out of Blr. M&A & PE work broadly comes from the several startups in the city and their rounds of funding. The PE funds often go to GP at KCO or AZB. SR was a big name for tax aspects, too. Apart from that, there are several boutique law firms targetted towards startups. Make Google and Linkedin your friend and figure out the names.

Lastly, there's also some amount of tech & media focussed firms whose client's corporate needs are met by in-house teams of the same firm, like SRL or NKLaw — these guys don't generally do M&A/PE, but they get a fair share of corporate governance and contract law work from the tech clients.

The thing is, given that you have no other viable options at the moment, this is your best shot. That said, keep giving the interviews — be open to shifting cities and perhaps reach out to the boutique law firms that cater to MSMEs & start-ups for PE/VC transactions. If you get anything between a T2 and a T3, take it. Luthra is essentially a T2 today, as most would agree. So, a permanent position at some other T2 is way more important to you than a random chance at a law firm that has skipped fresher hiring for even the top NLUs in recent years.

Things aren't all that bad, to be fair. There are some new partners & APs who are nice to work with and cognizant of other people's life as a concept. But at the top level, it's alll the same. Those who couldn't tolerate that have left for greener pastures and seem to be much happier in other T2s/T3s, for what it's worth.

At that level, as you must already know, B&F teams are brutal anywhere. That said, the thing about JS - particularly AS's team maybe - is that they don't want to involve more people on an appropriate transaction because of the cost to partners because of the billables rule — which ends up being excruciatingly burdensome on those who are actually on the said transactions. That said, people generally are nice.

Apart from that, no idea about SM, but TL Mum is known to have strong policies on the side — only firm in those towers who allow people to smoke in their balconies, along with having a decent canteen and culture of actually utilizing out of pocket options. Haven't heard good things about the work hours or the people tho.

Please don’t go for a niche practice area at the start of your career, if you’re interested in finance— go for a B&F, DCM, Structured finance team which also does IBC. Otherwise, it’s like doing MS and cutting a body during surgery without doing MBBS where you absolutely lack understanding of the fundamentals and absolutely avoid CAM IBC.

Hi everyone, I have the option to go for either KiiT School of Law or Amity Noida. Considering the location, I used to think Amity would be a better option with it's alumni base. But, I recently read more about it and found out it isn't very good so now I am really confused about where to go. Please help.

I have studied at one of those places. What law students in India demand - law students in other countries wouldnt dream of it. It would be unthinkable to demand that one is asked to read less for class or that one is allowed to cheat on exams or dictate what kind of examinations one will be required to take. It would be unthinkable to miss class without a very good excuse. Unthinkable to slag off any faculty member on a public website anonymously. It just isnt the done thing. Theres bare minimum professionalism that is expected from students. Law students in other countries dont demand that classes be rescheduled because they have other engagements, or that they be given leniency because theyre doing extra curriculars. You would get laughed out of the room if you asked for any of that.

How many pages a day did you read during grad school? How many classes did you miss? Go on and tell us.

Admin receptivity is about administrations- in the US atleast, the faculty member is the king inside the classroom and you can maybe have a discussion with admin about things like food in the dining halls or can the library hours be extended or can they fund an affinity group or whatever- but no one at HYS or Oxbridge is writing petitions to lower academic standards. It would be absolutely laughable.
