It is infuriating how often this website just refuses to work properly. Does anyone know the reason behind this? BO'24 here, the students were drinking and partying, and when the said teacher came on the floor, they started abusing him from inside the room, and then they jammed the door from inside with help of a cupboard. The concerned faculty had abuses written on him on walls of the entire floor. How do you expect someone to act rationally. btw academically the same faculty helped pass the entire BA1 and BA2 their papers with his liberal marking. I know Kapil Sharma went through a lot worse, but everyone respected him atleast on his face.

Recently, a video circulating on social media has portrayed an incident involving a faculty member from NLUO and fifth-year students. While the video shows a faculty member raising his voice and stepping forward in an intimidating manner, it only tells part of the story.

The faculty member in question is known to be one of the most student-friendly and calmest individuals at the university. If he lost his temper, it was not without reason. Here’s what truly happened.

The students involved had returned heavily intoxicated from a party around midnight. It has been reported, and likely captured by CCTV cameras, that they rode their vehicles into the university’s “Sperm Park” and even took their scooters inside the academic building. After causing this disturbance, they moved upstairs to the terrace.

This is where things get murky. Allegedly, they summoned about 20 first-year students to the terrace. Whether the first-years were coerced or came willingly is unclear, but the students claim no ragging occurred. However, a complaint was filed, and a ragging complaint is not to be taken lightly.

Another faculty member who came upstairs believed ragging was taking place. In response, he made the ill-advised decision to call the parents of two students in the middle of the night. While it was wrong to involve parents at such an hour, this does not excuse the students’ subsequent actions.

In their anger, the students confronted the faculty member downstairs, surrounding and intimidating him to the point of nearly thrashing him. This is where the faculty member in the video intervened. Alongside a female colleague, he tried to de-escalate the situation. However, when one of the students pushed the female faculty member, the male faculty lost his composure and shouted. His reaction was not without justification.

Things escalated further when one of the students allegedly called the female faculty member later that night, threatening to bring 400 people to her home if the matter wasn’t resolved by 10:00 AM.

It’s important to note that not all 15 students involved were active participants in the intimidation or threats; some were merely present during the incident. However, they have all been ordered to vacate their hostels immediately. This decision is justified, and there is no legitimate ground to contest it. There no legitimate grounds to even call for a protest. It’s done. You can’t do anything about it. You did it, now face the consequences.

Moreover, almost university has an anti-ragging squad, which includes external members. When a ragging complaint is lodged, it is mandatory to file an FIR, which has been done in this case.

To the readers, I leave it to you to decide whether this was an abuse of authority. While the faculty member made a mistake by calling parents late at night, the students’ actions—vandalism, intimidation, and threats—are inexcusable.

The university has followed protocol, and despite this, the students are resisting by releasing one-sided videos. Meanwhile, ample CCTV footage exists showing their misconduct across campus.

The problem with some students today—particularly these 15—is that they believe they’re above all rules, laws, and regulations. They’re still living in a small university bubble, and now that it’s burst, they’re gasping for air, unable to make sense of the situation. Don’t be like them. Be humble. Ask for your rights, but also respect others. With this attitude, you’ll be eaten alive when you step into the real world.

An advice? Don’t be foolish. Accept your mistakes and the consequences, which, after a rightful hearing, would be the justified punishment.

Hi guys, I've been able to secure an internship at a tier 2 firm which pays decent in their tax team, I have no prior tax experience and have not yet done tax in law school, any courses/ books to study for direct and international tax.

Reverse engineer the classes. If the faculty are dolts - then get old question papers and solve during class hours. Even if in 4th year - your GPA will go up.

If your peers are dolts - don't sleep in afternoon. Use this time to read. Most substance abuse takes place at night - get sleep.

Don't bother with job etc. If you are fried - chill. Get some medication and see a doctor. Keep it on the down low and sort your health out. The sentence on "draining and just waking up every day is a fucking chore i don't want to do anymore" - would require you to sort your health out (mental + physical).

The first job etc wont matter. Learn how to absorb information, synthesize it in a coherent form. That will come from reading - a lot of reading.

Bro if you aren't from a Tier 1 nlu, then grades was the way to go about, sorry if you don't have contacts, it's actually very hard, I'm currently facing the same problem, because I have average grades, try to shoot up your batch rank maybe top 10% of your batch, then you might land up a job, or else litigation is the only place for people like us, in that too you'll realise, good seniors won't pick you up unless you have contacts or you are from a top 5 NLU, so it is what it is, it's also our fault at the end of the day.

I am a third year student, at one of the NLU. Nowadays, I am really concerned for myself, i.e. anxiety about what will happen after 2 years, and basically 'Career anxiety'. The main cause as per me is peer pressure.

I see people around me getting internships via contacts and all, whereas me, coming from a very small village where farming is everything. It's a middle class family, not so rich not so poor. There are no professionals in any field in my family, who can come and guide me for these things. Therefore, I can't manage to get good internships too.

The delimma: Sometime, I myself feel that I came at wrong place, law is not for me. Neither I like litigation, nor the life of an associate at a law firm. I felt law firms attractive in beginning, but doing the same thing for my whole life doesn't make sense to me, and I don't like so much materialism around me, to be very honest. I just want a life which is very simple, not so much hi-fi.

My Interests: I really like life of a judicial officer, I am very average in academics and CGPA also goes around 7.9/10. But then, the uncertainty of exams and peer pressure haunts me so much. That's why I have considered academia as backup, if I COULDN'T crack judiciary.

AGE FACTOR: I'm turning 19 next month, and will be graduating at the age of 21-22. Does it really matter?

Loosing Interest in Internships: I have interned at District courts and 2 Boutique law firms till now, and as we have 4 breaks per year, I will try to intern in at least 2. But I'm loosing interest in interning, I sometime feels that why to even go to the path which I never want to choose in my life.

I just don't know what's happening to me, whenever internship break comes, peer pressure increases and so the toxicity. And now it's becoming unbearable. I'm not that 'weak' that I'll harm myself. But then, it's becoming worse than that.

Also my questions are, should I stop interning? because it costs too, at least 15-20k a month.
What will I do if I couldn't manage to crack judiciary? How to handle all of it.... together.

From what I've seen if you keep going at your tier 1 you will eventually become a partner. The benefits are that you don't have to spend time getting used to another work place. Moving firms is a mess at your level.

At a counsel level you probably have a process flow going and that you are used to and can keep it going once you (eventually) "level up" to partner.

At a new workplace you will take time to settle in and it is unlikely that the processes you are used to following will work with the your juniors who will most probably be used to something else.

Eligible, yes. If you wish it to be taken seriously though, try to submit it with at least a faculty or researcher from your university, even if the university authority does not acknowledge it separately. If it's good, then it may even get implemented. Follow up on it by going public and writing at least a decent blog post on it. That way, even if they implement the change and don't acknowledge it, the timeline will reflect that you had published it first. Refer to it later once the change has been implemented in a different follow up blog post if you want to.

nobody is getting anywhere from this sunken well. all i want you to know is that there is no guarantee of a job. 10 people may get placed of 100 which is underwhelming. on top the focus is on partying or sports and hook up. no body in all my circle knows about llm, rohdes, ppo, and we have a very unpolished crowd. you will need to work thrice the work you need from a better college but it is not out impossible. if you like ordinary jobs to fill belly then you can consider this place as rightly said above it is better than rml rgnul cnlu hpnlu mnlua and most t2.5 to t3 colleges. but 5 years later you should not be very optimistic. as a fourth year I can feel we are going past our best crowd and the new crowd is all but hopeful. do not join if you feel you can crack clat top 1000 ranks

A fourth year law student from a T2 nlu. I have no contacts, average rank in the batch, not among the top 30% of my batch, No T1 internships till now, no good internships lined up in future, I have boutique firm internships on my CV. Decent performances in co curriculars, Have a few peer reviewed journal publications, have done a few courses on corporate laws. I obviously regret not maintaining a good grade. I want to stick to corporate law. I want a job, I know I can slog in for long hours consistently.

Hilarious and tragic to see people with no clue about the history of Bangladesh commenting here. One of the worst genocides of Hindus has taken place on this region, first during partition and then during 1971. The Hindus who have stayed back in Bangladesh despite this and not migrated to India are the poorest of the poor from the marginalised Matua, Namashudra, fishermen and weaver castes, who don’t have the means to start life in a new country. Most have converted to Islam, as apparent from statistics: once 20-25% Hindu population now down to single digits. Should India give them preferential treatment in citizenship applications? Absolutely yes! It’s also interesting to see that most of the CAA opponents on social media and TV are privileged upper castes. Why not highlight the views of Matuas and other East Bengali Dalit communities in Bengal, who unanimously support giving refuge to their brethren?
