take care, and please do not succumb to your surroundings if your heart is not in it- you'll end up regretting it big time later in life. a job/academic stimulation isnt everything -- look out for what you can do to keep yourself engaged and make friends that align with your interests along the way. and in case you're so full of hate for your uni, it helps to remind yourself its only a matter of a year and a half till you graduate from this place and hopefully never have to deal with this ever again after that.

4th year at t2 nlu and i feel like every passing day I spend at this college I lose braincells- there is no stimulation, nothing to do, absolutely no ambition. Everyone's brain is fried with substance and i regret how I'm falling prey to the same culture- I had so much in mind when i first got here and now I take every day as it comes and no longer know what I want out of this college in life. The lectures are intolerable to say the least - profs that barely know what they're talking about and students that do not want anything out of class other than for the bell to ring and the class be dismissed. It's a shithole of a place and despite doing all I can do that requires nothing from the college's side, i feel disillusioned and just straight up burnt out in this place in the middle of no fucking where. I picked law because I liked the subject - not because it's a good career option, in fact I barely ever gave that aspect of the degree any thought before getting here. Now that I have best in class faculty (note the heavy heavy sarcasm) and am among a crowd that wants little to nothing to do with law it's draining and just waking up every day is a fucking chore i don't want to do anymore. Idk why I'm ranting on LI but I guess I've been on here enough to know this isn't anything out of ordinary in other nlus/ law schools in general - nonetheless I just had to get it off my chest

Join clubs, participate as much as you can and wherever you can. Do not fear rejection at all. I was also shy (still am) but you just need to get yourself out there (keep failing, keep being awkward) . Don't be intimidated by toppers, eloquent people, people seemingly smarter than you. Everyone wants companionship. Just be pleasant, and if that person is a big D, then ignore him and move on. You are better off than engaging with that person. I'm from the 2023 batch and we had a weird dude as a topper (Took all the gold medals and all), but no one actually ever respected him (everyone left when he was being felicitated lol), not because of the fact that he was a topper, but he was a big D about it. He used to be very sarcastic and patronizing. There will be people like him, but ignore them and be yourself, but don't be him. You do not want to be hated for whatever you might be good at.

VC still blatantly supporting the faculty instead of taking any action : "What did the students do for a Faculty member to lose his temper? Circulating only part of the clip in which the teacher is shown losing his cool but not the part which made him lose his cool, amounts to spreading misinformation and unrest on the campus."

Nobody knows, and too hard to comment right now. Picture will become more clearer in coming months because this will be a huge team of 100+ lawyers so assessing recourse needs would be tough. Moreover, CAM has already hired a lot from campuses for 2025 batch and a chunk will be allotted cap marks. So let's wait and watch.

I'm a businessman myself, I don't understand whats with semi successful businessmen in India yapping about problems facing the country and coming up with braindead solutions. And then people taking them seriously and giving them traction.

Too many. He should have one. Or none. If he's contributed to the economy, then so have the thousands who have worked in his companies and the millions who have bought his product. He's also given his granddaughter millions already even when she's a baby. How's she earned those millions? Is that a dole top?

I am in RML. So this dude who wrote that corp placements are looked down upon is absolutely misguided. It's just that placements here aren't great so people just develop this attitude that "it's not we can't get it, we never even wanted it in the first place", when they don't make the efforts to get one and end up not placed. It's just about satisfying one's own ego after not getting placed that they end up saying that we never even wanted a job coz no one is dumb enough to turn down a 20 lpa job straight out of college.

Secondly, please take this advice seriously. Never give up on internships and placements till your 5th year coz these competitive exams do not have any certainty. With judiciary, you'll always be waiting for vacancies and waste your life. I have seen many seniors ruin their life waiting for these judiciary exams. Next is UPSC, which is the most uncertain of all. It's, anyday, easier to get a job then clear UPSC. Lastly, clat pg/llm is merely an escape option but it really doesn't help coz once you're done with your llm , you'll realise you're back to square 1 and jobless again. So instead of bullshitting yourself that you'll definitely crack these exams, try for a PPO. Honestly, it's not that tough if you're able to get internship, work fairly well and network at the firm. There is a good bunch of kids who get placed here too and this is what they do.

This is entirely inaccurate. Many of the faculty at NUS are leading academics in their field, have published works which are considered to be authoritative in the respective domains. Oxford, Harvard, Cambridge and Oxford faculties regularly come every semester as visiting faculties, and almost all the full time faculty are trained in the best law schools in the world under the most seasoned academics. Only someone with zero knowledge of law school quality abroad can make such a comment. There is a reason it is in the top 10 and number one in Asia.

Nobody is having it both ways. It isn't a magic cure to make bad students good ones - just the opposite: it throws them out of the park. The model that he is employing is a better 'nudge' in the right direction (success) than most other models - and the 'nudge' in the right direction is the key thing that a university is supposed to provide to students, in order to facilitate their learning, problem solving ability and skills, and overall growth.

I will give you this: the student numbers increase was disappointingly planned. However, even there, as somebody has pointed out, you cannot have NLSIU remaining as an elite island like that if it is to grow meaningfully.

Depends upon the partner and the field. However, usually they do not hand out PPO. Work culture is better than a lot of firms. Yet, it's far from perfect. Some partners are not very nice to say the least. A lot has been said about the work culture. But honestly it is okay. Sometimes, conversations are demeaning. Work wise: It is a firm for retired people. Not exciting. The little excitement you would have otherwise gotten from a challenging matter is taken away by lack of domain knowledge of the leaders/ partners. It is an ideal firm if you do not have too many expectations from your career and want to not work like a slave whilst earning decent.

No law firm lawyer is actually rich. You all live an illusory life of luxury. You work your ass off to earn crores and have no time to spend it. You're rich in monetary terms, but temporally, you're bankrupt, in fact, temporally you're one of the poorest persons on the planet.
