Chauhan applied twice- in different application cycles. He was offered a job both times and he refused once. Sidharth Chauhan got the offer both times because any law school in the country would fall over themselves to offer him a job with all his experience and goodwill. SK personally has been waiting to give Chauhan a job for more than 8 years. He was offering him a job even when he was at APU- that doesnt mean anything inappropriate has been done here. Should Sidharth Chauhan have applied for a job when he was not going to take it? in hindsight probably no, probably another candidate would have been shortlisted if he hadnt edged them out of the pool. But it is still fully his right. I have applied for jobs I wasnt sure I was going to take up- everyone does this because you feel out whether youd be a good fit in the interview process. Should NLS have penalised him for applying and then rejecting the 22 offer? also no. These institutions need to look out for long term interests in hiring good faculty rather than petty hurt feelings over one application cycle not working out. No special accommodations have been made and no rules have been broken. This is just how hiring happens.

Moot funds, scholarships, regular and timely scribes for PWD students, comparable faculty teaching across sections, delegating ground level decisions to the faculty who are officially in charge of things, the list goes on. You have been purposefully ignoring those, because they make your narrative about Sudhir about an amazing admin collapse like a house of cards.

We had plenty of good faculty who did not try to be an ass, but genuinely helped the students with the their knowledge and guidance. Shamnad, Prabhash and many others. Sudhir would never feature in the list. As for NLSIU being run by Harvard or Oxford, that's the joke of the year and is the product of delusion of the Sudhir fans here.

How does it harm those interests? As somebody has previously said, flexibility in some matters is fine, but not in the ones that are being asked for here. Therefore, the ball is now in your court: prove/demonstrate how his decisions to make the curriculum more academically rigorous harms the institution and its interests.

Let us be clear about the question being asked: we all want NLSIU to be in the top rank of law schools, not just in the region, the country or in Asia, but in the entire world, alongside the likes of Oxbridge, LSE/UCL/KCL, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, NYU, ANU and NUS. If NLS can do that, it is not just NLS's success, it is India's success. The argument of the Sudhir defenders is that he is taking us closer to that goal. How would you and your strategies accomplish that and what would you do differently, making sure that you understand that your strategy must create a world where the top three law schools (in order) are Oxbridge/Harvard/Yale and NLSIU?

Other than the internet connection and failing drainage demands (and perhaps the questions about infra more broadly), I can't see anything legitimate in asking for blanket extending of deadlines, reduction of marking standards and lowering of expectations re. attending classes.

1. Two wrongs do not make a right, if he has caused trauma to NLS students. If you were part of the fireworks incident, you should be unfailingly apologetic.

2. Please, please, I beg you to tell me what harm he has done to his students at the uni he runs. As far as I can make out, you NUJS people had your heads too far up your arses to comprehend how valuable an asset you had, and so blew it. If he makes his uni run more like Harvard or Oxford, how is that a problem?

Being in-house and having a circle of in-house lawyers, I can pretty much draw a rough background on major companies. Ranges differ from positions to experience to previous salary.

If you are starting in-house as a Lateral hire in the 0-1 PQE range, do not expect more than 50k in-hand salary.

You can ask me companies and I will try to provide a very rough range of salaries but please provide the designation also.

Let’s just spit it out and say what the moderator won’t: the hatred of the BJP has led “liberals” on this site to spread all sorts of misinformation against NLIU and GNLU (especially GNLU) because MP and Gujarat (especially Gujarat) are pro-BJP states. What these idiots forget is that these NLUs have students from all over India and the majority of the students here are actually left-wing. Yes, there was a certain right-wing conference held at NLIU which was controversial, but it was condemned by most students and they even took down posters at the event. As for GNLU, please see any social media group of the college and you will see how strongly the leftist influence is there.

1. How much of a probation period is considered normal in case of a non-tier 1/2 litigation firm at Bombay? I have 3-PQE. They have told me it is a 6-month probation period, in the interview, they did tell me they 'have some probation period' but did not mention any time frame.

2. Also, isn't 25K less for someone with 3-PQE? My experience has been purely litigation. I get a feeling I'm being treated as a fresher, owing to my prior experience being at Chambers, and not at any firm.

3. Since it's a firm, private practice is prohibited.

Good example of being very wrong while also being very confident. You think Symbi faculty is putting out better research than GNLU? Y'all will say anything.

Please check the actual scores. GNLU scores 42.7 on research output compared to Symbi's abysmal 19.7. The gulf in rankings is because of NIRF's highly contentious perception score which has never made sense in the first place.

I’m not from NLUD, but it clears NLIU and GNLU any-day. GNLU is shaping the discourse on LI because of their PR Army, please don’t fall prey to it. GNLU has barely placed 25% of its batch. You must always compare the student crowd, and NLUD has way better students and professors. In terms of recent crowd quality, I’d say NLUD>NLIU>GNLU. This will get heavily downvoted because of the PR Army, but this is an honest review by a present law student.

Please don't rely on the biased advice given here. Here if you write NUSRL student quality is better than NLU Delhi's (which is a nonsensical claim), you will still get upvotes. Better rely on data released officially.

Or you can sacrifice your seat at a top university at India's capital, which will only grow as more people become partners in the next 3-4 years. The choice is yours. I already graduated from NLUD years ago and got ample opportunities, including a T1 job if I wanted even though I had a terrible rank.

Because I can reconcile with the fact that the IIT tag probably gives them higher scores. I obviously don't agree that Symbi, JMI or IITkgp are better law colleges, but Symbiosis being ranked 5th stood out the most.

And I am not a pvt college hater, I simply think that Symbiosis is not the 5th best law school in India

Since the recruitment prospects for the Batch of 2026 can be relatively bleak (especially for non-NLU students like me), I would really appreciate it if we make a thread containing the firms (or specific teams) where the chances of securing PPOs are higher. This would truly benefit all law students and help us understand the market in a much better manner.

It would be really helpful if we could get insights into the specific area and location as well because the hiring practices seem to be Partner-specific in some firms.

I would personally like to know which all teams have good hiring prospects in their Blr office for M&A/Gen Corp/Banking and Finance

the problem is no one here understands how NLUD functions. the college is NOT lacking. hiring has shifted to a PPO based system from a heavily Day-Z inclined system. the attendance policies at some T1s (NLS/NLUD/NALSAR) are such that running internships (or more internships) become difficult BUT T2s (RGNUL/GNLU, etc.) and some T1s (NUJS) have a more flexible attendance policy. therefore in the current market, these latter set of NLUs have a temporary advantage. and some of these NLUs such as NLS have a huge batch size, so their placements in absolute terms are not comparable.

keeping all of the above aside, it is only a matter of time before NLUD kids outdo others. BO'26 is already working on methods to tackle these issues. the college is very keen to fix the problem. there are some administrative hurdles but they are being tackled proactively. save this comment, come back to it in a year or two and everyone rambling about how bad NLUD is can then take the L.

Jindal I guess did not participate... Maybe their strategy is just to participate in QS and use that, instead of gamble on NIRF and end up with a low ranking?
