i have been allotted both hnlu and nluo in clat merit lists and have been in a dilemma whether to choose these or sls pune. This year slsp has increased their batch size to around 800, so will it be worth it to go for slsp because of the humongous crowd, and as far as i know placements has been dwindling in slsp for the past 2-3 years. Tier-2 nlus also don't have a very good reputation so should i go for hnlu or nluo considering a much smaller batch size and higher chances of getting placed. my main goal is to get a corporate job and i'm a dropper so retaking clat is not an option. if students and alumni of these mentioned colleges could shed some light on this topic it would help me a great deal.

And give mea strategy on how to lead a comfortable life on a litigation salary after joining, which will have been after plunging years of money and debt into getting a legal education. Agreed. Can confirm that what you say about the Canadians and South Africans also applies to the British. Just that I have been in their system long enough to see the exceptions who incorporate the good part but have issues. Read about the case of Employment Tribunal Judge Philip Lancaster and the tamasha of having his conduct investigated by the Judicial Conduct Investigations Office (JCIO) as an example. I think the Lancaster affair, as we might call it (using the word 'affair' so as not to give weighty normative judgments to conduct still under JCIO investigation), should be a helpful consideration for all those thinking about how to adequately regulate judicial conduct.

Ex Associate here. The litigation team is a ghost of itrs practice prior to VK's designation. They're on their nth iteration of the lit team but it's a ▮▮▮. The pay is bad in comparison to other boutique firms.

You will get some independence in the practice but for everything to anything, the lit is dependent on the be daya drishti of VK. The partner and senior partner of NCLT have ▮▮▮.

In the corp team, JNC and ST are handsdown two of the most competent lawyers who ought to be highlighted and celebrated in the profession. SS is great. NB (Managing Associate) is brilliant and absolutely amazing to work with and learn from. They've added an IP team now which is doing good.

▮▮▮ JNC and NB, the 3rd MA are the main corp transactional work team while ST SS MD JST are your real estate team. I've worked with NB and she's brilliant and deserves better.

The average pay when I left was 10.2 l fixed + 85k fixed bonus.

The firm is also run like a chamber. Agar mahine se pehle biscuit khatam hogye pantry main they will not restock it. Same with tissue papers. 8pm ke baad ACs off.

I am a second year student at Tier 1 NLU, and I am really confused, I have primarily done litigation and disputes internships, since the subject matter is extremely varied and one can barely touch upon something before we have to move on to another subject matter, I have no clue which team to apply for in a law firm.

I want to get an idea what teams do in firms practically, websites say various things, that seems very touching the tip and moving away.

Entrance exam coach here. Indian LLMs are primarily sought after by people from lower-middle class to poor backgrounds, who cannot afford an LLM overseas. Their reasons for doing so vary widely and include:

1. Upgrading to a better college to improve CV/job market value.

2. LLM required or beneficial for certain govt jobs. Compulsory for academic jobs. If you are eligible for reservations, then quota eligibility + LLM degree is a strong combo.

3. In the arranged marriage market, a postgrad degree may add brownie points.

Not true. When i was an SA at AZB, i brought in some pretty decent work and there was some reward that came my way. Not sure if the system has evolved but mama is generally quite pro entrepreneurship. If you bring in something, she’ll make sure you’re rewarded and incentivised to push harder.

I am a CLAT aspirant who has recently secured a rank that would realistically allow me to obtain admission to all three of these universities. Initially, HNLU appeared to be the most straightforward and viable choice among the options available to me. However, after spending a considerable amount of time going through numerous discussions, reviews, and student experiences across Reddit and other online platforms, I have started to seriously reconsider that assumption.

The problem is that most of the information available online is either outdated, highly subjective, or based on individual experiences that may not accurately reflect the present situation on campus. As a result, I am finding it increasingly difficult to separate genuine concerns from isolated incidents and internet speculation.

Therefore, I would greatly appreciate insights from current students, especially members of the batches of 2030, 2029, 2028, and 2027, from any of these universities. I am particularly interested in understanding the actual ground reality regarding academics, faculty quality, administration, campus culture, student life, internships, placements, mooting opportunities, peer group, location advantages or disadvantages, and overall career prospects.

If possible, I would prefer candid and unfiltered opinions rather than promotional descriptions. I am at a stage where this decision will significantly shape the next five years of my life, and hearing directly from students who are currently experiencing these institutions would be invaluable.

Any detailed comparison between HNLU, NLUO, and RGNUL, or any insights into aspects that prospective students often overlook would be immensely helpful. Thank you in advance to everyone willing to share their experiences and advice.

Ad-hominem (as that's what you started with): Yes, I have gone crazy after reading Sudhir's CV (remember to proofread to avoid obvious spelling mistakes from next time, BTW, a lesson you would have learned a long time ago, had you actually reflected on why you failed Sudhir's Con Law class, so maybe you want to reflect on your lack of a job). Crazy with joy that such a one as he would come back to India, when the entire world was open to him, considering his intellect and qualifications.

2. You say that BCL/Paul Craig doesn't have curriculums on how to run universities? You are correct (sort of). They don't spoonfeed (nor can they) on how to run universities. They show the aspiring university leader by example of how the best universities can be run. And as far as I can see, Sudhir is taking the positive lessons from their example. The massively rigorous assessment model clearly has "Oxford tutorial essay system inspiration" written all over it. That's good enough for me. Oh and that isn't all. He has also taken from the U.S. system, which we can, I think, all acknowledge to be one of the best in the world. His caps on top grade scoring based on the curve system were even ahead of some of the American universities fighting against grade inflation. Even other NLSIU faculty have gone on this site to complain that they want to give more higher grades, but can't because of the system, which earns one hell of a pat on the back from me. My only source of sadness is that he hasn't taken the other big grades strictness system idea from the British and put it into NLSIU: their system of "caps" where if you fail an exam or assessment without some very compelling reason like death in the family or severe illness, you are made to take a retest, but the marks you can achieve are "capped" at the minimum pass mark (i.e., the maximum you are given is the lowest pass grade, as a punishment for basically not taking the studies seriously enough). However, that's just one small blot in an otherwise great picture of academic rigour. If that ain't good enough for you, please set out a fully planned alternative that can withstand hostile scrutiny. Set it out here, now, in the presence of us all, remembering that the criteria of it must allow for NLSIU to maintain its domestic top ranking and climb up internationally, and that academic rigour cannot be compromised on under any circumstances because that's fundamentally what a university is about: academic rigour.

A lot of the university's current difficulties are structural in nature: i.e., they are caused by the fact that he is operating in India, with the constraints on funding and other shit that comes with operating in Indian academia, such as the stupid joke of an admissions test that is called CLAT.

1. Please give valid criticisms of how he is not handling the structural part well enough and what he could do better. For example, I think we can agree that the so-called "CLAXIT" (his attempt to replace CLAT with "NLAT") did not go well. Please explain how to have a better admissions test and how to get out of CLAT properly. Explain also how he as one legal educator can single-handedly cure the besetting problem for the Indian law sector 0- that the regulator, BCI, is also a nonsense.

2. Also please suggest better qualified candidates who could do his job. Remembering, as your type of critic is also the type who has made fun of his publication record, that that hypothetical better person must also be either Oxbridge or YLS/HLS master's + doctorate graduate (because that is what NLSIU deserves, being the best law school of the country), whose publications are in the English-speaking world's prestigious peer reviewed journals such as Law Quarterly Review, Oxford Journal of Legal Studies, Cambridge Law Journal, Law and Philosophy, Legal Theory, Harvard Law Review and so on, and whose books must be published by OUP, CUP, Hart Publishing, Yale UP and so on.

Unless you get a great referral, it would be virtually impossible to transition from Chamber to Firm.

Recruiters/HRs only understand the Firm name and even if you have done stellar work in your field at a Chamber, they don't have the requisite legal acumen to understand that and more often than not, your CV will never make it past screening.

The partner's team is relatively bigger, but they already have 3 on-site interns. I tried emailing 2 associates individually for work yesterday, but to no avail. Should I email the team as a whole, or should I individually email SA and Principal Associates? What's the usual course in an online internship? Help out please!

Hi everyone. Before I start let me begin my saying that I am from a college with strict attendance policies and therefore would not be able to do a 1 month physical internship before December 2026. I am hoping to get hired sometime in the year 2027. So during which month should I technically aim to do an offline assessment internship in if I want to get hired in sometime in 2027.
