There is a difference in bending the rules for getting in a guest lecturer or a chair professor who might be exceptional but not meet criteria and bending the rules so students dont have to attend lectures and can cheat in research papers and exams. The guiding question is whether something is good for the institution in the long term.

What youre calling rigidity is just sticking to that principle. giving away attendance, scrapping rigor, prioritising everything from sports to moots to recruitment over actual teaching and learning is not actually good for the university in the long run. Ask students at nalsar- ask students at any number of other indian law schools.

Flexibility is not about spinelessness or negotiating with students to keep them happy. Flexibility is about doing what is best for the institution. What youre doing here- bitching about him and dragging his name through the mud over minor complaints- which nls students do every few days on this site- that is not in the long term best interest of the institution.

Youre saying hes intractable and inflexible for not giving in to some very silly demands to be honest. extensions and attendance condonation is small stuff that good students shouldnt even worry about. Its not his job to meet you half way or all the way and give in to what you want- this isnt negotiation its education. Its literally his job to hear you and decide for himself if he finds the case you made convincing. He does not. Thats his job. If you think hes made the wrong call- you have to go into specifics of what the wrong call is and why its so offensive and important that he be forced to quit.

Working hard means not leaving things till last minute so youre able to manage submitting multiple projects in the same semester. It means staggering your work the entire time and giving yourself buffer for when you might fall sick or have an accident.

This is basic stuff you learn to be capable of doing a job. Just because a deadline for 4 papers is 31 October doesnt mean I only begin work on the 30th or the 25th. It means I begin my work at the beginning of term, do a little everyday and stagger my work so I meet all the deadlines. Some easier projects I might even get done early and submit early, others might take longer hours and I should prepare for that.

If you are debilitatingly sick in that you need hospitalisation- you do get leave. If you are not that sick- if its an ache or a pain or a mild cold- I cannot imagine needing several days of leave for that. Take a day, eat some d cold, get back on it. That shouldnt really disrupt your work unless youve left things for the last minute. And it should be easy enough to manage those within the 25% of classes youre allowed to miss.

If youd rather not- youre free to leave the best law school in the country. Hundreds will take your place immediately. You dont get to come into an academic institution and demand that it lowers it standards to make things easier for you- thats not a right students have.

what happens? nothing happens. Every student is allowed to miss some classes while still being allowed to write examination. Its only when that number goes below 75% that youre in trouble. Students who are asking for condonation for attendance are saying- I want to take my 25% for vacation, and any classes I miss in addition to that- because of recruitments or moots or illness or what have you- that I want you to condone so I can make the minimum attendance mark. Good students who try their best simply dont struggle with these problems. If youve been conscientious you will have attended enough classes that missing one or two for an interview or for something else really shouldnt hurt you. The students want to change the expectation from : students should attend all classes except in circumstances where they cant, to : students should attend only 75% and thats after accounting for every single reason for which you can excuse an absence.

Harder for many due to its quantitative nature, but not the best- applying concepts to policy (the previous year pattern) would’ve been far better. We had handwritten class assignments for some subjects to prevent the use of ChatGPT (?), with no transparency as to the format until right before the exam.

What you are saying is that MP took a reasonable and flexible approach. That's exactly what Sudhir is being accused of not doing during his tenure as VC. Clearly, he has learnt nothing from MP in this regard. Let me put it clearly, every successful head of the institution has to make tough calls. Nobody will blame him for doing that. However, he's proven to be notoriously rigid with regard to every aspect of law school and alienated everyone in the process. If you're doing that, then clearly you are doing something wrong. The right things that you are doing won't change that if you don't learn your lessons.

Yeah dude there is just no comparison. However well meaning it might be this is just foolish. Mohit and Viral were one of the legs on which S&R was standing. It’s still standing but don’t know for how long. Everybody knows that S&R CVs are out in the market and everybody is abandoning this sinking ship.

APU has a law department offering LLM courses, which used to be headed by Sudhir Krishnaswamy. It’s not clear if law students were also involved in this protest, but they probably were.

I might be getting admission in the second spot round of DU CLC(5 years). But i have already accepted my admission in uslls. I'm skeptical about DU as I'm looking into corporate law but uslls is much farther location wise and doesnt have the brand value like du. Please suggest what should be my path moving forward.

For the same reason that Vinesh Phogat cant use the legal system to undo a disqualification that's borne from the laws and rules that she is bound by. You are entitled to critique a law. You are entitled to challenge it too if the applicable 1st principles permit. What you cant do is dictate your own law or sense of fairness to secure an outcome that suits you.

I'm in my fifth semester from a T1 nlu. For the next two months, I've got five tier 2 law firm internships. How should I reject the three internships? Lol language barrier? Everyone inside the college understands English and Hindi. Everyone outside understands Hindi and in worst scenarios, a bit of sign language when you combine it with a few Odia words that you'll learn the in the first few weeks.

"Language" is the last problem for a North Indian there. If you are excluded from a conversation by Odia speaking group of friends, that's another story because they are not your friends.
