I don't know... I'm just a random British-Indian kid that studies law at university in the UK. One of my tutors last year was one of 'em PhD students from India of which there are a few in the UK these days. Once, as me and my mate were leaving a class, I was saying to him (my mate, that is, he's from Malaysia) that the best thing to do for having a few laughs in Britain was to pick up a British newspaper and read about politics in the UK. My tutor, he overheard, and he stopped by us and, if you'll believe it lads, he says to us, 'You'll never know what "having a few laughs" means until and unless you have been blessed and cursed by the knowledge of, and the desire to visit, this website called Legally India. You don't need to spend 10 pounds a month of a subscription for having a few laughs, you can do it every day for nothing!'.
I asked him if it was possible for someone to be 'blessed and cursed' at the same time, and all he said was, 'You will see'. Now I've seen this website, I think I understand what he meant. :)

As others have suggested, if this is not a financial burden on your family: GO FOR IT. I am a first generation lawyer from a small town, and went through these phases. Luckily, my family pushed me to go out and gather experience. You can take a more informed about the remaining opportunities in your future years after your first internship.
Go with an open mind, and try to absorb what the world is like. Don't worry about excelling and other objectives at this stage. You are in a stage when you can experiment, hence do that whole heartedly. Wishing you all the best.
And then there’s the non-financial impact: stress, worry, peer pressure to spend and flaunt brands, pressure to buy expensive gifts if you have a high-maintenance girlfriend etc.

Finally, for the 100th time: you can be a woman despite XY chromosomes if you identify as one mentally. Why were people not crying out when he hadn’t stolen opportunities from women ? Because he hadn’t stolen opportunities from women. People aren’t angry for aesthetic reasons - people are angry because this is wrong to put women through this.
No one is arguing that there isn’t a woman out there who cannot beat him, or that he will always be on top of his game and never throw a match.
