1. Foreign placements - Yes (Clifford and Chance)

2. LLM - Yes (Cambridge, NYU, Oxford, Duke etc).

3. Domestic Placements - internships for top 10 rankers of the Batch for all tier-1s. And if you’d be aware placements are a thing anymore, PPOs are.

This may help you out slightly:

1. MNLU: The Mumbai advantage is sometimes underplayed- it counts A LOT if you want to:

a) join a senior counsel/counsel at the Bombay High Court;

b) join a Bombay-based boutique law firms (which have an open preference for Mumbai-based colleges) + you will have great lateral entry chance into T-1 Firms after 2/3 yrs PQE in such firms;

c) join a T-1 Firm directly, and once you have some PQE under your belt, you can apply to a foreign firm. This route makes more sense to me than opting for it straight out of law school.

2. NLIU: If LLM is your endgame, then there are no two opinions- go for NLIU any day. They have a good corp culture too. But here me out - its 2029 we are talking about. After NLS, NALSAR, NUJS, NLUD, NLUJ, I won't vouch for any

I can also tell you anecdotes- almost every woman can- of how they thought they were going to die when a man decided to hit them- and how they didnt think it was possible for that man to have that much strength., and looking at that match I only saw a man beating up a woman. After gaining 4-5 years of experience in a big4, I'm planning to get an M7 MBA - graduated from a T2 NLU and have okaish extra currics. I'm leaning towards gre, but gmat is also an option considering gmat treates errors less harshly. What scores have people with law background got in the past?

Please don't start this stupid thread. I am a new Associate at a T-1 Firm, joined last year. My in-hand salary comes to 1.08 Laksh per month. However most of it is spent on my medical expenses, since from the last few months I have been suffering from clinical depression, ADHD, anxiety, panic attacks- I had no history of medical conditions but after joining the firm and the inhumane working hours, I now have to deal with incessant bouts of extreme depression.

My other friends who have a CTC of 7-8 LPA working in smaller firms, are doing very well mentally, and if given a choice I would be in their shoes

I was in the same boat about a decade where I would not intern during the internship breaks and stay at home to not be a burden to my parents because any internship outside my home town would be difficult to finance. However since I didnt have a job till my final semester, I ended up doing a few internships one of which I converted. Later I realised how many opportunities I would have missed. You should not do that. I know it’s easy for me to say but ask your close friends for financial help, if need be. Don’t hesitate to ask for help.

Go for it. Take a small loan from a friend, but go for it.

Honestly, it will depend on will you have any anchor client who would move with you and keep on giving you work. May not be to sustain you completely but to keep you occupied. Without it, it would be fairly challenging, especially on mental front, given that one is accustomed to remain busy with entire support system around you, when you're in a large firm.

I would imagine that law students, who are generally left-leaning, will be happy with higher taxes on the upper middle class and the LTCG/STCG hikes. But what about your parents? Are they pleased about it?

As for practising lawyers, I suppose those at T1 firms may have to pay more?
