BA has political science which is the most important subject for constitution, human rights, international law etc. It has economics which is the base for majority of financial laws in the real world. It has sociology and psychology which again is the base for criminal and civil laws. So the fact that you only see Marx, Weber etc as BA subjects is a shame. Also topics like caste and justice system in colonial India does help in practice whether bar or bench, seems like you haven't read landmark judgements well. I've been working close to a decade now. When i started i really cared about Forbes lists and being named as a early entrant into some club of exceptional beings, however, as time went on and I saw/learnt how these things worked, it was but obvious that the only marker of public success is when my work stands out over all else. It's almost funny now to see anyone being ranked by some random publication as being someone to watch out for (in case of a particular popular magazine which puts out 30 under 30s, it means watch out for in the cautionary way).

But, if lists like 30 associates to watch out for, rising associates etc. weren't ridiculous enough, there are now power rankings for law students in specific fields now? Like 30 students to look out for in Tech and TMT?

The listing is but obviously after paying some cash for being "eligible" for consideration.

Students - I understand that students want to set themselves apart and the field is crowded but believe it or not the only way to do that is to publish more, win more moots & debates, and stay at the top of your class. In the 2000s, NLIU was a top NLIU and foreign law firms used to visit campus. Then GNLU’s first batches started graduating, followed by NLUD and Jindal, with Jindal backed by Naveen Jindal’s powerful contacts and networks. Simultaneously, there was massive corruption in NLIU admin, which saw a student protest and removal of the VC, but the damage had already been done. Then, DNLU Jabalpur was established, taking away crores that could have been spent for the betterment of NLIU. Then you had heavy domicile quotas in addition to the existing caste quotas, thus pushing many bright students to colleges elsewhere. And, of course, neglect by successive governments.

Things look bad, I’m afraid. The only solution is NLU nationalisation. What NLIU could perhaps do is lobby through a powerful MP politician like Shivraj Singh Chauhan.

Any success in getting an offer from a foreign firm is the product of a long term process and ecosystem. You need to gain a different perspective, do readings beyond your exam prep, practise speaking confidently and making logical and coherent arguments in a persuasive fashion. Grooming skills also help. The curriculum also plays a small role, as does exposure. It is not that NLIU students are less intelligent, but the institution so far has not taken any definitive step towards any of these, be it the student body, faculty or admin. In the NLUs where such firms make such offers, one or more of these (always the students for sure) have come forth with such initiative.
