Those TLC folks don't even know how to use Manupatra/SCC, most of them are not aware that apart from the act there can be some rules and regulations to govern the actions prescribed under the act. Most of them don't even know how to write a legal proposition properly either in English or their local language. These TLC guys cannot compete with most NLUs students because latter have the framework and resources to develop their skills while former doesn't.

And no firm is willing to teach an A0 how to use Manupatra/SCC or some other specialised platform while paying 15+ LPA to them.

Hahaha sahi bola, interns have quite the comfy lives in such firms. Most interns in my team leave by 7-8 PM and have the luxury of enjoying a drink with their college friends/co-interns. Ofc, nobody expects them to work like donkeys but such 'accomodative' partners and seniors def run out of patience sooner than you'd expect XD

With all due respect, you're an intern. While it's definitely true that one partner in a firm cannot be an example for the work culture of the entire team/firm, AZB's insane billing rates, more often than not, directly translates to high-slogging work sessions and high stress environments. AZB Disputes, B&F and M&A are definitely teams that are renowned for back-breaking work as well as horrible work-life balance, not to mention intense toxicity due to a pooled-associate system.

i wish to get into corporate law, which obviously means i want a job at a t1 law firm, now should I opt for uslls or take a second drop and reappear for clat? i already took a drop and they didn't get me any t1 nlu(i was getting t3) but my parents forced upon me a second drop, however if the University is good enough where ppl land good jobs, they won't mind sending me, i still plan on taking clat again and switching if i get a t1 nlu but is uslls worth it if I stay there for 5 years? how is the attendance and how are the placements most importantly? and is it true that some t1 law firms follow some "only nlu" policy? also if I do end up taking uslls, what specific things will I have to do more than a nlu student to land a high paying job for a fresher at a t1 law firm?

I have an Interview for an Internship scheduled here for tommorow, but as far as the process goes I had something come up and had to reschedule and I called their EA and he promptly ensured that I get given another date when I could have it, Reply from Shreya Ma'am and her team post her reply were swift as well.

Idk if I will make it, but so far I have had the smoothest application process for any firm or chamber Internship.

Hi, I’m in the same boat (~2 years Comp PQE at a Tier 1). Have been trying to switch since last few months and man let me tell you - it’s like starting all over again from scratch. None of your past experience matters. Trying to switch is in fact worse than trying to find a job while in last years of your lawschool - cuz they atleast consider you for an assessment internship then, which can potentially be converted.

My advice here would be to speak to your Partner or any SA/PA in your team(if you share a good rapport with them), explain them your situation and ask if they can refer you to anyone they know in Bangalore transactions teams. Also, be open to starting from the entry level cuz your experience will most likely be discounted. Good luck!

From a monetary sense, it's surprisingly lucrative opportunity. They offer 10+2 LPA fixed and variable pay along with 7 LPA in reimbursements for 'field deployments' which covers food, travel and stay in good hotels. They are also amenable to WFM and have rather flexible work hours.

Four words for you: KEEP OFF SOCIAL MEDIA. You get depressed thinking others lead personal lives. But let me tell you that 99% of those posting and showing off are fake. Someone may buy a cheap ass ticket to Singapore and get clicked OUTSIDE a Taylor Swift concert, but give the impression that they flew first class or actually attended the concert. Then post cringe lines like “feeling blessed”.

Well, few years back I felt exactly like you, and I could say lot of gyan and pravachan to you rn, but one thing I learnt during those darkest days of my life is that all these motivations just make your mind more miserable. Therefore, as influencer Mike Schmitz once said, "During tough times of your friends, just be with them rather than giving them sermons or trying too hard to answer their questions". But of course, I can't be present with you physically or otherwise. So lemme give a little gyan that I learnt during my dark days. It did not transform my condition, but it helped me from getting worse.

1. Participation Certificate: Just think facing tough times in life as an act to receive participation certificates. The purpose is just to make it through. You don't have to be outstanding, personal best etc. You have to just make it through. You can't give up on the struggle. Do what you are supposed to do. Drag yourself but do it. You need not hit a six for its not a full toss, its okay to have a dot-ball. Just don't stop playing. Your future self would thank you for this.

2. It's not the time to dream big. Don't dream anything: Have a small plan. Try to achieve it. Create a task for the day and live one day at a time.

3. Be grateful for what you have: Sounds cliche I know. But as Sadguru says (no, I am not his Bhakt, but he is right on this) all our problems exist just in our minds. You learn to convince the mind and most things are sorted. A doctor who worked for international humanitarian organisation said that I have seen so much suffering that I don't see my problems as anything. Watch the goatlife movie or other movies on oppression and suffering, look at the lives of various people with disabilities someone like Nick Vujicic. Friend, there are thousands of people who don't have any limbs and living their everyday life and making it through.

You talked about rare genetic incurable disease, I have a permanent disability which took away the profession that I loved, and God-forbid would force me to be single forever (the latter on a serious note). But then I look at all things I can do: see this beautiful world through my eyes, nature, I can walk, talk, hear Arijit Singh, etc etc. There are so many things that I have to be grateful then what I don't have or messed up to be sad. Disclaimer: disabled people like me are not bicharas. They too are happy, sad and normal most of the time.

Lastly, if you are into reading: read the book of job (this is poetry so a bit boring), and victor frankl's man search for meaning. (Not the typical cliche work, I promise).

Also, when you come out of all this don't forget to be empathetic towards people who are going through tough times. That's what I gained out of all this: I stopped judging people as inferior and useless. It burnt away my pride and arrogance.

I am not spreading negativity. Someone said she is not from a village and LI readers were upvoting him, so I merely did a fact check. There is little to no data about the placement updates on the official RCC linkedin page. In the recent CAM report NLUD had just 3 offers. Can any insider tell what is the current placement scenario at NLUD? Also is it sound for upcoming batches to prefer NLUD over NALSAR/NUJS if the priority is solely getting hired by a T1 firm?

Non-confirmation at the end of probation is fairly common in tier 1s. And these 'small small mistakes' do tend to add up over time... However, depending on your PQE level / prior work exp., your seniors may have different thresholds for your mistakes. For example, an A0/A1 will get a longer rope when it comes to making mistakes (provided the same mistakes are not repeated).

I had a really bad experience with a T1 firm HR Exec. I had interned at this firm back in March and was due for a call back this month. All formalities were fulfilled (back in april) in order to confirm the call back in the month of August. The HR exec telephonically confirmed and asked me to choose between august/september. I chose august and asked her if there was anything else I was required to do, to which she said, "just send an email to the partner and CC me". I did that and followed up with her, SA from the team and the partner. Everyone was on board and she said I will send the confirmation email closer to the starting date (I agreed because that's how it was when I got my internship call for March). Fast forward to July 15. I try to call her, she doesn't pick up. I email her asking her to send the confirmation email since internship for August and September is a compulsory component of my coursework this semester. No response. I followed up almost 2-3 times everyday. On 27th July she says I have not received your evaluation from the team. I contact my SA who tells me they never received any email saying they need to do that. They contact her and ask for the evaluation sheet and per my request they fill it and send it across within an hour. Hoping the procedure was now done, I call her and she gives evasive answers. I called her today morning and she started yelling at me saying what can I do now? I told her that it was your responsibility to get the evaluation sheet filled by my team back in april itself. The HR assistant who sits in the mumbai office then contacts me saying why are you saying your internship did not happen because of us, I then explain everything to him and forward him the email that I had sent to my team and the HR exec to substantiate the situation. No response from them, and I am left without an internship which will now affect my grades this semester. I have no clue what to do now, please guide if any of you can.

PS: My team is extremely supportive, both the Partner and the SA have taken out the time to go back and forth for the call back.

This means there would be increments across levels in both firms, bumper bonuses. Finally - these law firms have realised that you can only retain good talent if you can offer them FAT PAY CHEQUES amongst other things!

I recently quit the corporate team of a Tier-1 law firm and want to shift to dispute resolution/litigation teams in New Delhi, but am lost. Which teams/firms would match/almost match the pay band of a Tier-1 firm, along with having a good work culture (Tier-2 firms are fine too)? Did not have a great work environment at the previous place so a good working environment is a priority now.
