Some comments on the thread below. My first thought is that if these are the type of questions asked in the UPSC, then surely NLU grads have a chance of doing very well? Maybe it's time more NLU grads think of giving this exam, even at the cost of 2 years prep?

"Kids, the only thing that matters is good handwriting."

(from NLSIU alum and corp lawyer Suhas Baliga)

"This is so worthless. Dumping Oppenheimer story in basic english - verbose & pointless. Our priorities seem skewed when we test outdated skills in exams instead of nurturing critical thinkers and innovators. We urgently need to reassess this exam and the candidates."

"Good but it seems written by a 10th grader rather than the UPSC CSE AIR 1. Grammatical mistakes and lack of connection between the lines described make this a doubtful essay."

"bro waffled his way to ias"

"UPSC also you have to underline keywords like in board exam? 😭"

It is definitely outdated. Sibal tried to change things and got bashed for skewing things in favour of the "urban, elite, privileged groups". People argue that the changes would disadvantage those from a rural background whenever they try to change. Thus, the rot continues.

Welcome to India! where mediocrity is rewarded, and ambition and competence are punished. No wonder there was so much controversy around Sanjeev Sanyal's comment.
Id have guessed it is a 8th std English paper of a kid if the guy hadn't mentioned this was for UPSC.
