AZB for Tatas, CAM for Welspun on $1.5bn solar power assets sale

Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas Mumbai projects partner L Viswanathan and corporate partner Jaya Singhania advised Welspun Energy on selling the assets of Welspun Renewable Energy to Tata Power, which was advised by AZB & Partners partner Shameek Chaudhuri.

The deal value was around Rs 10,000 cr ($1.5bn), was signed on 12 June and is expected to close by September.

The buyout of 1.1 GW of Welspun’s portfolio by Tata Power Renewable Energy is one of the largest in Asia, reported the Economic Times.

Did AZB also represent RIL when RIL sold of its 72% stake in Gulf Africa Petroleum Corporation (GAPCO) and exited the international fuel retail business.

I wonder how did AZB and CAM work together on the same deal. BTW did AZB represent reliance on the GAPCO deal. It was very significant

Wasn't Jaya in Ashwath's team? Then wouldn't this be a pre-ashwath exit deal for which LV stepped in after Rau left?

L vishwa does projects simple hai bhai...yes ashwath is a big loss to CAM if partners are expected to make capital calls to maintain their equity 3 times in a year to absorb CAM delhis losses it will happen

Partners aren't making capital calls (only the Managing Partner is). The rest are responding to capital calls
