Trilegal acts as sole counsel for Reliance Industries on Network 18 restructuring, with S&R for Citi

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) today announced a consolidation of its media and distribution businesses spread across multiple entities into Network18.

Trilegal advised Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) in the restructuring as the sole legal advisor on the deal, according to the firm’s release. The firm was led by a team of partners Harsh Maggon and Vaibhav Kothari, counsels Ankit Kejriwal and Rohan Singh, associates Apurv Sharma, Kopal Raje, Kshitij Aditya Sharma, Mahima Priyani, Nehal Binani, Prithvij Beniwal and Vaibhavi Shaunak. The competition law aspects of the transaction was led by national head and partner Nisha Kaur Uberoi, counsel Akshay Nanda, and associates Sanjeev Kumar Sriram and Radhika Goyal.

The firm assisted RIL on the restructuring of its media and distribution operations by merging three listed group entities - Television 18 Broadcast; Hathway Cable and Datacom; and Den Networks with Network18 Media and Investments.

Update 28 February 2020: S&R Associates advised Citigroup, which was financial advisor to the board of directors of Network18 led by a team including partners Sandip Bhagat and Sudip Mahapatra, and associate Lakshmi Pradeep.

Dhruva Advisors was the tax advisor on the transaction.
