Baring Private Equity Asia has acquired for $700m (around Rs 4800 crores), IT and ITES provider NIIT Technologies from NIIT Limited and its founders, at Rs 1394 per share, followed by a mandatory open offer for 26 per cent shares of NIIT Technologies, according to reports.

J Sagar Associates (JSA) advised Baring Private Equity Asia led by a team of partners Vikram Raghani and Anand Lakra, senior associate Abhilash Chandran, associates Ami Shah, Khamir Kamdar, Parshva Doshi and Urmika Agarwal. In addition, partners Anish Mashruwala and Utsav Johri advised on the financing aspects of the deal, partners Amitabh Kumar and Vaibhav Choukse and associate Zenia Cassinath advised on certain competition aspects of the deal.

Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas advised NIIT Limited and NIIT Technologies and its founders.
