Trilegal and Link Legal have advised power producer Caparo Energy’s $ 1.28bn contract for supply of wind power projects equipment with India’s largest turbine manufacturers Suzlon India.

Trilegal’s Delhi-based partner Charandeep Kaur was supported by senior associate Rachika A Sahay and associate Anuja Tiwari in leading for Caparo Energy (India) Limited, which is an Indian subsidiary of AIM-listed (alternate investment market) Caparo Energy.

Link Legal partners Atul Sharma and Ajay Sawhney along with senior associate Deepak Chaudhary and associate Manvi Mahajan acted for Gujarat-based Suzlon India.

Caparo is arranging with Suzlon to set up wind power projects at various locations in India in what is understood to be the largest-order ever placed for the development of wind-energy projects.

Bloomberg reported that a $49.1m part payment had already been advanced to Suzlon with the second instalment payable in July of this year.

The deal envisages the first leg of the projects to start in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra, utilising new Suzlon turbines with a combined capacity of 2.1 megawatt.
