BCI to make up for lost Covid time: Two AIBEs by March 2021 + vows Jan 2021 will definitely happen

Two AIBEs in first 3 months of 2021 (if everything goes to plan)
Two AIBEs in first 3 months of 2021 (if everything goes to plan)

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has announced a second All India Bar Exam (AIBE) date to be held in 2021 and confirmed that the previously announced upcoming bar exam on 24 January 2021 will be happening on time.

However, according to the BCI press release, the next and 16th AIBE would be scheduled only two months later following the 15th AIBE, on 21 March 2021.

The BCI claims in its release:

In this way, the Bar Council of India is going to hold two All India Bar Exams within a period of two months.

The press release also states that “there will be no change of date of All India Bar Exam-XV” anymore.

With the coronavirus pandemic still raging, candidates might want to take that promise with a pinch of salt.

After all, the January AIBE XV had previously been scheduled for 16 August 2020.

The previously-passed one-year AIBE-passing amnesty for fresh lawyers to practise law currently still stands extended to 31 March 2021, which might explain the BCI’s tight timetabling.

What is the point of having two exams back to back within two months? Not like the COVID situation is going to be any different in January and March. It makes more sense to have the second exam around June when the candidates who could not appear due to COVID may have been vaccinated and can appear for the exam.

Just in: Manan Mishra has appealed to NLU student associations to support Modi govt on CAA. Maybe this can be done if BCI supports INI status for NLUs?

Rubbish. And your suggestion is also preposterous and marks a sell-out attitude.

Faster than the fastest. I hope BCI conducts AIBE every month now.

Kian, here is an idea for an LI story. Today's Indian Express story on school board toppers and where they are now is going viral. Can LI do a crowdsourced story on NLSIU/NALSAR/NUJS batch toppers in the past 10 to 15 years and where they are now? There will be 30 to 45 people in total to track, but you can ask admins or SBAs for the list (all will be gold medial winners) or just outsource the thread.

From NLSIU ,I can give you many names already: Yamuna Menon (2020), Madhavi Singh (2019), Bhuvanyaa Vijay (2018), Shruti Ashok (2017), Gopika Murthy (2016), Yelamanchili Shiva Santosh Kumar (2015), Sakshi Arvind (2014), Namrata Shah (2013), Krishnaprasad KV (2012).

I would rather know how students who have finished their studies at NLUs overcoming the various obstacles in their lives, are faring now. The first gen learners, those from backward communities, the economically disadvantaged, the specially abled etc. Now that would be inspiring. Of course, it need not be an either/or thing with what you propose.
