Roychowdhury to join Actis from AZB

Ratnadeep Roychowdhury, who had been promoted to partner at AZB & Partners Mumbai in 2015 after joining from erstwhile Amarchand Mangaldas in 2011, is set to join Actis Capital in-house in a senior role - possibly India general counsel (GC) - reported Bar & Bench.

The 2007 NUJS Kolkata graduate told Bar & Bench: “Working at AZB has been a wonderful experience which I will always cherish. I am very grateful to Zia and Rajendra, and the rest of the firm for all the support and encouragement that I have received.”

We have reached out to Roychowdhury and AZB Mumbai managing partner Zia Mody for comment.

Actis is a UK-headquartered multi-asset emerging market investor managing over $7bn of assets globally.

Why stress so much on the fact that she is a Noojie?

Whoa. He basically tossed the AZB partnership within 1 year 6 months! Shows the declining value of an AZB partnership today. First Aparna and now Ratnadeep leaving in such short periods.

Perhaps people want a better lifestyle, being a partner in a law firm, is not the be and end all, silly. Actis is a big name, and if joining as India GC, its worth it. All the best RC, happy for you :-)
