\"Replace ink with blood\": Is law minister Khursheed threatening Kejriwal with violence?

Union law minister Salman Khursheed reportedly “dared” campaigner Arvind Kejriwal to protest in his Farukkhabad constituency, suggesting it would be hard to return from there. Kejriwal alleged this was a murder threat from the minister.

Last week Kejriwal had demanded Khursheed’s resignation alleging that the minister and his wife were guilty of forgery and embezzlement of funds. He had threatened to protest for the demand. [Express]

In footage aired on some news channels yesterday, Khursheed said:

“I was made the Law Minister and asked to wield a pen…now it is time to replace it with blood.

Let him (Kejriwal) come to Farrukhabad, but how will he go back…Kejriwal says he will ask the questions and asks us to give the answers, you have heard what we have to say, you will forget the questions.” [IBN Live/The Hindu]

Its is rather telling that a supposedly "well-educated" and "erudite" politician like Salman Khursid behaves and speaks like a gangster or mafia chief.

On a legal analysis this statement, is likely:
1. a threat to kill, criminal intimidation, and
2. inciting violence against an individual and a group of persons (IAC).

It is a ripe case for Kejriwal and IAC to file a FIR and set the criminal justice system into action. Equally, the PM and the Congress party should take cognisance of such statements and ask Salman Khurshid's resignation or dismiss him from being the law minister with immediate effect to ensure a fair and proper investigation

Hi,
The law minister of the country issues a blatant death threat.
Salman Khurshid Miah —hope like hell nothing happens to Kejriwal.
Imagine what will happen to Mr Taliban and his rotund wife – his own law department will put him in the garbage bin of history.
WTE ( waitress turned empress ) is secretly happy— she has now managed to divide india into hindu-muslim .
Wait for the results of 2014 elections, madame queen bee!

His name is spelt Khrushid kian and not as Khursheed which is the anglicsed way of spelling the name.

When we first started writing about the man, his official MP website used Khursheed, as did many other references on the net.

Since then, that spelling seems to have fallen out of use a little, but we have to stick with it for consistency, unless there's an official source somewhere stating that this is incorrect?

To me this appears to be an utterly serious matter. These statements prima facie amount to criminal intimidation, as rightly pointed out by a preceding commentator. Wonder, if Courts will now be flooded with PILs against the Law Minister.

I believe if the Congress party has any sense left and wish a return in 2014, they should stop defending/feigning ignorance of the statements made by Khursid and ask him to resign. Let Khursid get re-elected and return to the Parliament and Cabinet with dignity. The Congress party is loosing track by the minute and falling apart like a pack of cards. Not expected from a political party with the lineage that it has. Furthermore, they need to take care of their media management and bring back people like Singhvi, instead of unleashing Renuka Chowdhury, Manish Tewari and Jayanti Natrajan. They are doing no good to the popularity ratings of the party, at least amongst the educated middle class.

Just goes to show to what extent we have brought our DEMOCRACY to - Do we need such people in the Parliament, and if so what is the President and the CJ of India doing. Their silence does not send a good message for the citizens of the country. In a time when rapes and corruption are being the talk of the day, this silence and inaction will lead the country to chaos.- JAI HIND.

What sort of law minister is this? He should be booked under S. 506 IPC for criminal intimidation, and S. 505 for incitement of violence. Mr. Kejriwal should immediately file a criminal complaint.
