Balaji Telefilms vice president legal Priyanka Chaudhari has joined Netflix Entertainment Services India LLP as its legal director and senior counsel in the regional intellectual property vertical yesterday.

As the first lawyer in this role in India, she will be responsible for handling IP, trademark and content issues in India of the international entertainment streaming giant and content producer.

She will be reporting to Los Angeles, Netflix’s head office, where a large legal team manages Netflix’s global and regional operations.

Chaudhari, a 2008 Rizvi Law College Mumbai graduate, had previously worked at Bharti Axa Life Insurance Company between 2011 and 2013, Star India between 2013 and 2014, Zee Entertainment from 2015 to 2017 and Balaji Telefilms since January 2017.

She had also worked at Vigil Juris and Deval Patel Associates in Mumbai before she had moved in-house.

At Balaji, she was heading legal and regulatory affairs, including movies, OTT services and television, heading up a team handling documentation, litigation, content operations, labour and regulatory work.
