Sujeet Jain, the group general counsel and company secretary of Viacom18, has joined UltraTech Cement as chief legal officer (CLO) in Mumbai in April.

Jain is a 1996 GLC Mumbai graduate, who had begun his career at Thakkar & Thakkar Advocates before moving in-house to Hutchison Telecom, as it was then called.

In 2005 he had joined People Group (which owns Mauj Telecom and Shaadi.com) before moving to Viacom in 2008.

UltraTech is a publicly listed building materials major, owned by the Aditya Birla group, which has been particularly active in the M&A space, having worked with Khaitan & Co and Trilegal in the last year.
