Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas Mumbai partner designate Nidhi Parekh will join Citi India’s legal team as senior vice president (SVP).

It is understood that the 2007 NLU Jodhpur graduate will focus on investment banking and capital markets at Citi’s Mumbai office.

Cyril Amarchand managing partner Cyril Shroff commented: “She is a talented lawyer. Her move to Citi will deepen our bonds with Citi. We wish her well.”

Citi’s legal team of 17 lawyers is headed by general counsel (GC) Pramod Rao, who joined Citi from IndusLaw in 2013, where he was a partner, after having left as ICICI Bank’s GC in 2012.

Citi declined to comment. We have reached out to Parekh for comment.

Trust your supervising partner/s to stand for you...lmao !
Won't give you your due, but make you slog
Make false promises and buy time :-)
Deny promotion!. Throw carrot of Designate.
Promote juniors (GR&SN make partners)!
Space on top but hire 2 partners laterally (Delhi one came from Citi only...eh?)
Finally, seek total loyalty/commitment/be faithful .... !

All the best Nidhi ! Great hire Pramod !

Who was the senior hire above her? She is partner designate and the equity partner is there from day 1.

Wonder if someone can elaborate on what exactly is meant by 'deepen bonds'?

while CAM lost Nidhi, they gained Gokul in the process...time only will tell who wins from this barter.

Perhaps by gaining Gokul (and Naredi), you loosing Nidhi to Citi, Thomas to KCo, Sagarnil to SAM...and...little earlier Abhimanyu to KCo, Cherian to Kco...be assured more to follow. Negotiations on :-)

Kian, has Nidhi confirmed the "deepening of the bonds" bit?

No, we've not heard back from Parekh.

But in my experience, companies like Citi have fairly strict PR policies so she's unlikely to comment, and even if she were to, in my experience, it'd be rare for a departing partner to say: "I look forward to never having to speak to my former firm again." :)

What does Jodhpur have to do with this? Stop making it all about the colleges. This is more about individual competencies.

this is not about college. she is from jodhpur, and has made lot of sacrifices to reach where she is today, and jodhpur is proud of her..

Dear Collage, Guest got you there real good. Textbook definition of 'getting owned'...

Partner designate is not a partner - far from it - the designation still says PA - its a carrot which may or may not materialise and in the cap marks team seemed unlikely. Moreover, what is the point of making partner if you remain nothing more than a glorified associate - no clients you can call you own - living on tossed matters. There are so many partners in these firms who generate revenue less than a MA/PA/Counsel and have been designated so on account of having spent a certain number of years or having the backing of an influential equity partner

Partner Designate is on Retainer basis or employed?
