Abhijit Joshi's Veritas promotes two to partner internally

Veritas Legal, the firm started by ex-AZB & Partners senior partner Abhijit Joshi in 2014, has made its first two internal promotions, according to a press release from the firm.

Tushar B Raut and Kunal Doshi have both been promoted to partner level.

Raut (pictured left) is a graduate of ILS Pune and specialises in M&A, private equity and corporate since 2008.

Doshi (pictured right) is a GLC Mumbai graduate and a qualified solicitor, specialising in M&A, real estate and franchising since 2008.

Since starting, the firm has hired Wadia Ghandy’s litigation partner Rahul Dwarkadas in March 2015, and partner Nandish Vyas from AZB in February 2015.

Its really sad how everyone is in the rat race for increasing number of partners... this number game is diminishing the value of actually being made a partner in a law firm!

Just to be clear when someone says fee earners they include peons, stenos, etc right .. Possible that there might be much fewer actual lawyers working within the firm..

Fee earners are only those who can bill fees directly from clients, so that does not include peons, stenos and the like...

Total staff at Veritas (including peons, secretaries, etc) is around 40, I've been told...

Kian why don't you maintain a small section on the website with just a small brief about law firms. No self laudatory profiles, no rankings but just a one para. description, number of partners, number of fee earners, no. of support staff, location of officers, etc. al., - may be starting salary as well to the extent available (only objective information). It will be better than all the good-for-nothing-for-purchase awards the firms claim to receive every year.

Raut has demonstrated that you can just be yourself and do your thing in college and still be a good lawyer with career progression... the bookworms of the library and intellectual bullies of the corridors and the hostel can take a hike (quite literally up the hill).
