AZB Mumbai poaches Desai Diwanji lit team led by Anoj Menon

Desai & Diwanji litigation partner Anoj Menon and his team of at least two senior associates, Dhanyashree Shah Jadeja and Shreevardhini Parchure, will be joining AZB & Partners.

We had reached out to Menon and AZB Mumbai managing partner Zia Mody this morning for comment.

We have also reached out to Desai & Diwanji for comment.

D&D used to be a mid market champion but is moving towards obscurity.

Definitely something the management needs to think about.

Big gain for AZB. This is like the entire D&D lit. The firm has been sinking and atmosphere is pathetic. All good ones have left. Who will handle lit now? [...]? But who will [...] ask for advice now that Anoj has left? Do&D should have retained lawyers. Their pay is also only worth to buy peanuts and papad for lunch/dinner. All associates work till midnight or 2-3am and get paid mere peanuts compared to even startup firms!

I find it hilarious that you think we (corp team) have enough work to keep us occupied till 2-3am.
Anyone got the contact details of a good recruiter/head hunter?

The only real litigation partner of desaidiwanji has left. No other litigation lawyer in desaidiwanji is capable of handling corporate litigation the way Anoj handled.

AZB won this for Baring Private Equity Asia Advisors Pvt Ltd and employees, quashing of an FIR by Global Indian School of Singapore and payout of $34 million on off court settlement in favour of Baring Asia.

Anoj is going to be appalled with the quality of AZB lit lawyers. Bar Rajendra and a senior lady lawyer, the partners couldn't tell Adam from Steve.

Poaching Anoj is an absolute masterstroke; especially taking into consideration the two who've followed him there.

D&D is finished. They are unable to attract top talent and the managing partner lacks the ambition to take the firm higher. The partners don't know how to lead and motivate the associates and the toxic atmosphere just adds on to the misery. Thank god I left at the right time. Thanks but no thanks.

Partners dont [...] in D&D. [...] Its a shame that the bright associates are left to handle everything themselves, and most are looking for exit routes!

Don’t know how Anoj and shreevardhini have been reacting to AZB ethic (or lack thereof) and ego (the abundance thereof). Stellar lawyers and deliverers, the two of them. Hope AZB doesn’t change them.
