Cyril Amarchand Delhi boosts projects with Ajay Sawhney & team of 2 from K Law

Sawhney to join CAM
Sawhney to join CAM

Ajay Sawhney, outgoing project finance partner at K Law, having joined from Link Legal a year earlier, will join Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas in Delhi by 1 June.

He will join with a team of two fee-earners, according to two authoritative sources.

Sawhney specialises in projects and project finance work, having begun his career proper at Link Legal in 2005 after graduating from Symbiosis Law School in 2003 and an LLM at the University of Liverpool in 2004.

He had joined K Law in May 2015 from Link Legal with around 10 fee-earners, including projects partner Gautham Srinivas.

Srinivas will be staying at K Law with around 5 junior fee-earners, we understand.

Sawhney and Amarchand Mangaldas managing partner Cyril Shroff declined to comment when contacted. We have also reached out to Srinivas and K Law managing partner Naina Krishnamurthy for comment.

The Cyril Amarchand national projects and banking practice is chaired by projects partner L Vishwanathan, with partner Santosh Janakiram heading up the national projects practice.

Its a lost battle for CAM in Delhi. Ajay will repent this decision. He will no longer be free and independent.

He is a star lawyer and people know his value in the market. Naina's loss is CAM's gain. He's the only one along with Ramanuj who can take this to the next level in Delhi. Jay and Piyush in any case aren't rainmakers. Bloody good hire!

Lesser said the better. Santosh/ LV watch out for an 'internal price war'. He will ensure CAM matches Desai Dewanji and Linklegal in quality of work!

Why the denial? Most others would jump to take credit. Insider Sahab, I know this true. So you're clearly not from CAM. only top guys know the truth. They don't have time for trolling. So who are you, whose knows about both with such authority? Only the denier..

Kian I fear for my identity from the establishment. Please protect.

Baffling logic from CAM! In projects, they have superstar LV, stars Amey and Santosh, supremely talented Ramanuj, Piyush and DJ and capable Subhalakshmi and Harita. Decent bench of PAs follow. Where does Ajay fit (obviously not a big star)? Why needed?

CAM projects Delhi team has stars at the mid level as well viz., Sharad who has garnered business in the past year for CAM Delhi, think the team needs to be bottom heavy to deliver the work rather than hiring partners.

Kian, can you please confirm whether it is Krishnamoorthy & Co. or KLaw? Bar & Bench has described the firm as Krishnamoorthy & Co. They can't possibly be using the two names interchangeably since its not even an acronym.

The Firm started as Krishnamurthy & Co. and subsequently rebranded as K Law. They use it interchangeably. There logos say both of it.

he is just a great lawyer with a good EQ, not any bad ass... probably people cant fathom someone else's success.

Ok, if he is not a bad ass, then he must be a bully. No? Do his juniors agree with me?

What ever is heard about him from his juniors from the law firm prior to K Law was that he is one of the [...]. May be thats why so many dislikes here.
