Takes zero calibre to be promoted in JSA these days.

JSA is the only law firm in India where elevations happen purely on merit and there is no other criteria. Perhaps only law firm in India where you start as an intern and can actually think of equity partnership if you have calibre.

JSA is the next Little and Co.! it may take pride for its glorious past (no harm)but the truth is out there for anyone to see. The bright ones have long left the shores; what is left now is only the shadows. Infact recruiters hesitate to post JSA CVs anymore to the other big laws. Salvage whatever is left and make a home run before the shutters come down on Vakils House! Sad indeed that a firm built on the wonderful principles of equity and non family lineage is finally counting its days.

JSA is the only law firm in India where elevations are purely on merit and certainly not on the basis of family relations. Each of the retained partners have consistently met their targets and brought in new business for the firm.

A sweeping generalisation. Applies to some, maybe.

Totally deserving elevations, I say!!! I hope each of your comments has a meaning, as in you at the LEAST know ONE of these partners individually / professionally. Guess if it's a cake walk in JSA - you must have been here? What ELSE could be your basis of knowing - "What is required to be a partner in JSA?" Writing a message here is easy. Grow up - your criticism isn't even worth it. I speak with enough info on everything that happens in JSA. The firm is not more worthy of your comments. Guess you are a frustrated soul! Not been elevated this year, huh?! Hahaha. Better luck next year.

Yeah but they will still be making a killing. So its good for them. I know for sure they are making between 1-2 crores.
Insider What? 5 Apr 2017, 02:33

Definitely you are not an insider. If they make 60-70 lacs p.a. it would mean that they are having a good year. Retained partners start with 36 (in some cases 42) lacs in retainer and 12% bill sharing and their bonus is capped at 12L. Are they good people? Yes they are. Are they making somewhere between 1cr and 2cr? Damn no!!!

if they would have been making 1-2 crores then KCO or CAM would have been doing JSA's re financing.

How to spend 8 weeks holiday-ing each year and still become partner? Join [...] team of JSA.

Tujhey kyun khujli mach rahi hai bhai? Are you spending 365 a year working and still not cracking it? No law firm is running on a dole, especially not JSA/Trilegal/Phoenix and other non lala firms. Everyone has to post the numbers to get anywhere. If these guys are holidaying for 8 weeks and still managing, heck it means their firm is still managing to stick to their word and offer people a good life.

JSA is one of the most balanced and admired firm in India. For the founder to retire all equity and Bergis passing on the leadership to new managing partners are pointers that things are right there.

So most of the comments really are unwarranted - only entertainment.

@ahem: BTW whats the problem in being on 8 weeks holiday if clients are willing to give you work?
