JSA promotes 3 to equity, loses Akshay Nagpal to Indigo as associate GC

J Sagar Associates (JSA) has promoted Manvinder Singh, Trisheet Chatterjee and Poonam Verma to its equity partnership, reported Bar & Bench, while partner Akshay Nagpal has joined Indigo as associate general counsel (GC).

Correction: The earlier version of the story stated incorrectly that Nagpal would join Indigo as an assistant GC.

Gurgaon-based corporate commercial Manvinder Singh and Trisheet Chatterjee had been promoted to retained partner in 2011, while regulatory, disputes and projects lawyer Poonam Verma was elevated in 2013.

JSA co-managing partner Dina Wadia has confirmed the news.

JSA partner Somasekhar Sundaresan had announced last month that he would leave the firm, following a team of 18 headed by partner Akshay Chudasama having defected to Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas in 2015.

is mr. nagal leaving jsa because of not being made equity partner. loyalty has no value in jsa if you working with certain partners. should have been made especially if they have diluted the position by elevating others mentioned in the list

unfair to assume that a competent lawyer is moving out for not being made a partner. Need to understand that it's a choice one can exercise for varied priorities in life. Akshay is a great lawyer and he must have opted a different path.
