Juris Corp Mumbai promotes Avikshit Moral to partner

Juris Corp promoted principal associate Avikshit Moral to partner in Mumbai, in the firm’s real estate and corporate practice.

Rizvi Law College 2008 alumni Moral joined Juris in February 2014, as a senior associate, after stints with Manilal Kher Ambalal & Co, Law Point and India Law Alliance.

He specialises in conveyancing, redevelopment and slum rehabilitation, estate planning, joint ventures, start-ups and corporate commercial laws, according to Juris Corp’s press release.

Juris co-founder H Jayesh commented in the release: “Avikshit has made stellar contribution to our Real Estate practice over the last few years. We have seen him grow with us since he joined us as a Senior Associate. He shadows a superb team of lawyers in our Real Estate & Corporate Commercial Practice and is also recognized for his pivotal contributions to critical client mandates.”

It's obvious from the spate of countless departures in JC over the years that they are resorting to offering of partnership to retain "talent" (also read as whoever is left). Kian you could perhaps write a piece on firms such as JC, WG and countless others who rose to the top at one time and have gradually fallen through the cracks? It would surely help startup law firms from repeating the mistakes.

@SCB, Big fat lie. They pay 25 thousands to associates. 9-10 lakhs to senior assoicates with 4 years of PQE. figures captured by Lawoctopus and legally India (even though few months old now but unfortunately for people at JC still holds true) is good indicator that associates' pay at JC is not even remotely close to 9-10 lakhs p.a. i request you to not misguide people by giving out such grossly inaccurate information. While, it is clear that you might be a part of JC and want to paint a good picture about your firm but it's a humble request not to give out such an inaccurate information which might influence someone's decision in joining the firm.

9 out of 10 non founding partners does not amount to a couple of exits Further JC post their departure has not fallen through the cracks but sunk beneath the surface en masse like Atlantis!

JC was never a tier 1 firm. Couple of articles on LL on senior personnel exits does not equal to a law firm having fallen through cracks. All law firms/institutions take hit from time to time but it's not the end of it. These firms that you categorize which have fallen through cracks might not have stayed on course the projected growth trajectory but they have adequate resources to stand up if not outshine (i am not even going to attempt to remind how these firms that you mention have a phenomenal real estate practice and litigation practice)and make it sound like lawyers at these firms have nothing to do except for staring at walls, which is an uneducated inference at the very best.

@RON12, If law firm rankings (as given out by RSG, etc.) were to be considered (and even otherwise) WG is in a different league altogether when compared to JC. While, I agree that law firms can't be and shouldn't be compared you should also be mindful of the fact that saying 'WG sucks, Anytime JC' is not going to make you or JC(i.e. assuming you are somehow related to JC, which for the well being of the firm i hope not) look any better.

What is this "next Level" which we keep seeing in the form of quotes from JC. The way it is next level is either subterranean or underwater! if one considers that with the earlier lot of partners JC was in the news pre 2011 for their innovative deals , achievements etc whice i the post 2011 era it is in the news mainly for partner exits and recently for so called "elevations"and new hires

I agree The earlier lot of partners were multiqualified CA or CS in addition to law,they were faculty in colleges and had also authred books and numerous articles in leading journals viz well reputed and respected for their knowledge I'm afraid the same cannot be said for these new 'elevations'Merely adding headcount as partners and leasing real estate in metros does not determine quality of a firm Juris Corps drop in rankings post 2011-12 and fall from its earlier positions speaks for itself
