Kolkata sees some love from HSA, with Hariharan (and Prateek Ghosh) to join

HSA Advocates will beef up its small Kolkata outpost with two partners: former Argus Partners co-founder Ramya Hariharan and Paras Kuhad Associates (PKA) litigation partner Prateek Ghosh, who heads up PKA’s office, we have confirmed from authoritative sources aware of their moves.

It is understood that they will join HSA by next month.

Hariharan is a corporate lawyer who had set up Citadel Law Chambers in Kolkata after leaving Udwadia Udeshi & Argus Partners in 2014.

Ghosh is understood to be the only partner in Paras Kuhad’s Kolkata office and has a team of around two full-time lawyers.

HSA managing partner Amitabh Sharma was not reachable for comment.

The Kolkata market has generally seen large law firms reducing their presence in recent years rather than expanding, with the market still dominated by traditional Kolkata-origin firms such as FoxMandal and Khaitan & Co, while Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas continues a modestly-sized outpost there.

Glad to see law firms finally coming to Kolkata instead of servicing the Kolkata based clients from Mumbai & Delhi

Hiring two partners for a non existent Kolkata office (I believe that only the address exists with no physical infrastructure) to replace Ranjit, a senior partner who pretty much started the firm with Hemant.. Looks like The Amitabh is certainly on the right track at HSA!
