Senior litigator Zulfiquer Hansi joined Kochhar & Co in Bangalore as a partner in its labour and employment practice.

Hansi is a Karnataka University 1998 law alumnus and after beginning his career with senior advocate and labour litigator SN Murthy he went on to run his own law firm in Bangalore. For 17 years he has advised and represented large multinationals in the manufacturing and service sector on employment law issues such as the charter of demands, settlements, dispute conciliations, negotiations with labour unions, strikes and lockouts, domestic enquiries relating to termination of employees for cause, according to a Kochhar press release.

Kochhar managing partner Rohit Kochhar commented: “We are pleased to welcome Zulfi into our Firm. His expertise backed by rich experience of handling both high-stake and sensitive contentious and non-contentious labour and employment matters will be a critical asset to our specialised practice.”

The firm now has eight partners in Bangalore, and 15 partners nationally in its labour and employment practice, including five full-time partners.

Can any knowledgeable person throw more light on the following portion of the firm's press release? - "The firm now has eight partners in Bangalore, and 15 partners nationally in its labour and employment practice, including five full-time partners."

Labour & Employment practice is pretty much dead in Mumbai/Maharashtra atleast!! I'm not too sure of the situation in Bangalore. Most firms don't have even 1 partner specializing in Labour/Employment & these people have 15!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
