Luthra & Luthra has promoted two lawyers – Vaibhav Kakkar and Kanchan Sinha - to partnership in an “exceptional” promotion round.

Managing associate Vaibhav Kakkar, who joined the firm from the 2006 batch of NLU Jodhpur in Luthra’s first recruitment round from the law school, has been promoted in the general corporate, corporate structuring and regulatory practice.

Principal associate Kanchan Sinha, who had joined the firm as a lateral hire in July 2013 from Amarchand Mangaldas, was promoted in the corporate and M&A practice. She is a 2003 graduate of NLIU Bhopal and had spent 10 years at Amarchand Delhi.

Senior partner Mohit Saraf said: “It was basically people who have done exceptionally well – not routine things [promotions]. It was an exceptional promotion, but it also coincided with the ‘family celebration’.”

Saraf explained that Friday’s annual event, dubbed a “family day event”, involved inviting everyone in the firm and their families, right from office cleaners to the managing partner for a celebration.

The regular promotions would likely be made in April of this year.

Saraf said that Luthra’s year-on-year revenues in the corporate law firm were up 36 per cent, Legally India reported today.
