Luthra forays into South India with Tatva partner

Luthra & Luthra will open an office in Hyderabad with local Tatva Legal partner Durga Bose Gandham, according to three sources with knowledge of the development.

Gandham is a 2003 Nalsar Hyderabad graduate.

Gandham and Luthra managing partner Rajiv Luthra did not respond to messages seeking comment.

This is the second major recent partner defection in Tatva’s Hyderabad operations, following Ekta Bahl leaving for Samvad Partners in March of this year.

We have reached out to Tatva partner Shishir Sharma.

Update: It is understood that Luthra already had a Hyderabad office, where Delhi partner Abdullah Hussain worked part-time. However, with Gandham joining, Luthra will now have a full-fledged and separate office in the city.

Considering the celebrity clientage of Luthra ji, the first client will be Sania Mirza or VVS Laxman

Thanks - I've just tried to confirm. I believe they may have had a smaller representative office in Hyderabad with one partner dividing time between there and Delhi, but not a full-fledged full-time office.

This one's in a different location in Hyderabad.

Will update story.

Congrats Bose. It feels great to see that those unruly kids of NALSAR are now leading offices, becoming big names in the legal industry. Also congrats to Altaf.

Congrats Durga! Sad to see so many partner moves in Hyderabad and Delhi office of Tatva.

Don't be too sad. Tatva Hyderabad recruited a replacement partner for Durga much before this exit. The new partner [...] is also from first batch of NALSAR and has better credentials than Durga.

Insider, with Delhi office of Tatva crumbling, hope you find another affiliation soon. The replacements will not help you there.

Don't worry. Wait for another firm to set up its office in Hyderabad. You may get lucky too and then those left behind will also say that they got someone better than you!

Thought you were sad for Tatva. Were they crocodile tears? Tatva Hyderabad has more partners compared to any other firm in Hyderabad. This is the third partner exit in last six years. Well below market average. Not 'so many partner moves' like you said. Get your facts straight. Do not defame under the pretext of being concerned.

Good to hear that you have a replacement for Durga. The way Tatva (Delhi office at least)has handled its people, its surprising that anyone is willing to join Tatva. Soon he will also realise his mistake and leave.

Not meant to be offensive. Just a lil pun on the name.

Luthra and luthra is the least affected firm after AMSS split. Does the firm lack talent? Headhunters refuse to approach them. Let's see .
