Platinum Partners has announced the promotion of Piusha Bose to partnership in Mumbai.

Tier II, yes.

This may have been revised this year.

Platimum works on a different model and does'nt believe in the volume game. I would think placing it within the bracket of Tier II law firms is rather misleading.

Tier II ? What are you on, bro? It's a boutique firm and falls in a class of its own. I dare say the quality of lawyers at platinum is far superior to the likes of others considered tier I.

Platinum is the best boutique firm today. I doubt anyone can call it tier II. Not sure what the criteria is but if quality of work and lawyers is the basis - platinum would definitely rank amongst the best.

From what i know, Platinum is a boutique law firm, with a strong focus on corporate law and only takes on cream transactions. Be it united breweries or mtnl, they have been doing the biggest deals in the country. Tier II seems like an unfair categorisation - they seem like a force to reckon with. Time will tell. I wish them all the best.

To put it simply, platinum is all about premium service. They focus on quality of work and have the best quality lawyers. It is a model badly needed for Indian law firms which are often filled with make shift lawyers to win a volumes game.

There are many different models in the market. Platinum, S&R, TT&A all for quality over quantity. But firms like AMSS, AZB, Khaitan etc appear to have gone the other way and are aiming for volume (with as much quality as they can get). It will be very interesting to see which model works - the market can do with both types.

The difference between Platinum and its peers seems to be that it only does corporate and not finance work, and equity is rumoured to be very restricted. Pretty much Nihar's firm. Who knows if that is true as Indian firms are very secretive about how they structure their partnerships.
