3 AZB associates & partner Vyas to join Abhijit Joshi start-up today

AZB & Partners Mumbai partner Nandish Vyas, together with senior associates Kunal Doshi and Tushar Raut, and associate Natasha Sethna, will today join the firm that was started by former AZB CEO Abhijit Joshi in November.

Joshi declined to comment when contacted.

AZB Mumbai managing partner Zia Mody said she wished them well.

Good Timing! 1 Feb 2015, 05:46

This is an excellent timing for a new energetic firm with good credentials. In the Mumbai scene, the erstwhile leading law firms are splitting up with their once rainmaking equity partners now disinterested and work run by sycophants. Whereas most startups are just good hearted ambitious youngsters but with no experience or credentials to back their word. In either case it was the client who was the ultimate sufferer. This is good news. Even better would be if foreign law firms enter in light of the new investor friendly regime, introduction of REITs and end of mom-pop law firm culture.

So basically Abhijit moved with his team... Good for him.. Hope he has plans to recruit some other good lawyers at the senior level .. Don't know about others but I did a matter with one of the senior assiciates mentioned and he was definitely not a star performer..not taking away from the fact that he seemed like a good person.. Wish Abhijit all the best!

It's Veritas Legal - http://whoswholegal.com/news/community/article/32067/abhijit-joshi-establishes-veritas-legal-mumbai/ - not to be confused with the pre-existing Veritas Law Offices established by Srishti Ojha, the former capital markets partner at Desai & Diwanji - http://www.legallyindia.com/201501125484/Law-firms/ex-desai-d-cap-markets-partner-srishti-ojha-starts-up-veritas-does-rs-50-cr-priv-placement-for-intec

Such lack of imagination...2 new firms open up within 2 months, both with the name VERITAS? And doesn't VERUS, an older firm, mean similar or about the same as VERITAS ???

If AJ & co is not future Shardul Amss in Mumbai, we are heading for a price war. You may see slight increase in monthly retainership fee but next year's bonus will take a hit.
