Luthra & Luthra, Amarchand, Kochhar and Titus have emerged as likely candidates to qualify for the quarter finals of the Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) – Khushal T-20 tournament in Delhi after winning all matches played to date.

A total of eight matches were played last weekend, which was the third round of games in the group stage.

Luthra & Luthra’s unbeatable 238 for a loss of just 2 in 20 overs was the highest score of the tournament so far, and trounced Khaitan & Co’s total tally of 102 runs, all out.

Tarun Mehrishi was the opening batsman for Luthra in the first innings of Saturday’s match. His daunting total of 114 runs in 65 balls won him the man of the match title.

In the first match of this weekend’s matches played on Friday, Saikrishna Associates defeated IPR firm Anand & Anand by 53 runs. Saikrishna batted first to score 207 with a loss of only three wickets and man of the match Surya Patnaik took 6 wickets to bowl out Anand & Anand at 154.

Turf Delhi Twenty20 finalist Bhasin & Co successfully chased up the 168-run target of K & S Partners in just 17 overs. Bhasin advocate Kamalkant Tyagi was declared man of the match for scoring 84 runs in 48 balls for his team that won by eight wickets.

Kochhar & Co won its second match of the tournament with a bonus point by defeating Fox Mandal which scored only 157 as against a good total of 225 runs made by Kochhar.

Senior partner and ex-captain of Kochhar & Co Dhruv Wahi opened with senior associate Arvindam Ghose to a partnership of 117 runs. Sandeep Dembla contributed 54 runs.

Wahi told Legally India: “We would not like to disclose our cards, but we’ll prepare and do our best for the next match ahead with Titus & Co.

“Unlike last time, we now have better opportunity and facility to practice at DDA Jasola complex which is just next door. This is our second consecutive victory in the tournament and got a bonus point in both the matches. With this we have six points from two matches.”

Meanwhile, after Desai & Diwanji had lost its first league match to Amarchand Mangaldas, it batted first to victory over Lall & Sethi. Desai & Diwanji scored 188 for the loss of 5 wickets and Madhavan’s knock-out of 104 runs in 63 balls qualified him as the man of the match.

Unfortunately rain dampened the matches on Sunday, which could not sustain the action-packed momentum created by Luthra & Luthra, Kochhar & Co and Saikrishna; each team having scored more than double centuries on Saturday.

In one of the low scoring matches, Trilegal defeated JSA, comfortably chasing 51 runs in 7 overs.

Trilegal captain Yogesh Singh told Legally India: “Winning the toss was important and we were lucky to have won it, because overnight rains had left the pitch wet. Besides, our strong bowling order and fielding gave us an edge. Our bowlers stuck to good line and length and there was no looking back after the first few wickets fell cheaply.”

Similarly, Amarchand easily managed to match up to AZB’s total of 70 runs. The firm scored 72 runs in 8.6 overs for a loss of just 3 wickets. Vaibhav Mishra made 35 runs in 23 balls and Karan Mehra took the critical early wicket and was announced the man of the match.

Yesterday evening’s concluding match pitched Turf Delhi Twenty 20 champions Titus against defending champions Suri & Co and ended in victory for Titus. Titus chased 108 of Suri & Co in the tenth over itself. Saurabh Anand made 58 runs and took three wickets.
