Both are horrible places to work! The fact that he chose Desai Divanji over AZB says a lot about AZB. His associates would get pay cuts for arriving 1 minute after 10am even when trains are not working, unless that was negotiated before joining. Because as per D&D, they ought to have known about rains and left at home at 6am. Also 10am is the time your laptop should be on and you should be working. Not to forget the loud noises from a certain place in the corner on 2nd floor and screaming all over the 3rd floor. All the best for joining a place known only for departures. With your talent you'll could have made it anywhere else. Also please shave and don't wear revealing outfits as per their definition. You may have to deal with something else altogether other than client Deliverables if you do not follow their rules.

D&D Gurgaon is well managed place with sophisticated work environment. The place does some high value good work but never advertises and this is how it should be. Kill big and stay low key- the mantra all should follow !

I think in AZB all the creme de la creme work is cornered by RB, particularly international arbitration. Rest of the litigation team are [...] surviving on crumbs of work. Z is a litigator herself originally, so any lucrative billings are under her radar anyway.

It's a tragedy that in top firms litigation is a side business. But then it's a reflection of how Indian courts function. Just get Mr.Salve, QC to salvage an interim order is the top firm's litigation strategy. Neither do top firms use their leverage to reform at least commercial courts in India.

Further, the Indian law firms and their protectionist ways have stopped foreign firms entering India. This also means that Indian firms have no courage to expand globally in powerhouse litigation centres like London, Singapore or Hong Kong. All in all this HUF corparcenary of law firms in India will meet their sunset sooner than later when big picture is considered.
