Somasundram joins Bharucha disputes in Mumbai

K Law partner and Mumbai-based litigation head Karthik Somasundram has joined Bharucha & Partners in Mumbai today, growing its litigation practice to seven partners.

Bharucha senior partner and litigator MP Bharucha confirmed his joining when contacted, and said: “He adds to our disputes practice and is a very welcome addition.”

We have reached out to K Law for comment.

Somasundram is a 2004 Nalsar Hyderabad graduate, who had been promoted to associate partner at K Law in 2014, after having joined in 2011 from DSK Legal.

He had started his career at Paras Kuhad & Associates.

Somasundram is the second litigation partner in Mumbai besides MP Bharucha. The firm has five litigation partners in Delhi.

Bharucha & Partners had merged with Arthe Law in 2017, as Bharucha co-founder and litigation partner Vivek Vashi left to start his own firm.

The total headcount of Bharucha & Partners now stands at 12 partners and around 87 fee-earners in total, confirmed managing partner Alka Bharucha.

Last month K Law had hired Luthra & Luthra managing associate Abhishek Singh as a litigation partner in Delhi.

Why has there been no reporting about Vivek's new firm? His entire lit team left Bharuchas and joined his new venture following several marquee clients. But still no story on that ?!

MP has been and is the star litigator of B&P and beyond! Rest can afford to be delusional, as is their right!! The merger last year and coming on board of other specialized litigators in Delhi, was a threat to inflated egos and so a few decided to pack up & leave..
