CAM brings back ‘home’ ex-AZB finserve partner Anu Tiwari 2 weeks after exit

Anu Tiwari rejoins CAM

Former AZB & Partners partner Anu Tiwari has joined Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas today in Mumbai.

He specialises in corporate, advisory and regulatory work particularly in the financial services space.

We had reported on 4 September than Tiwari had left AZB.

The 2007 NUJS Kolkata graduate had become a partner there in 2016 when he had moved from Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas with senior partner Ashwath Rau.

In a statement, CAM managing partner Cyril Shroff had commented: “He joined the firm straight out of college and received nearly all his grooming with us both on technical as well as cultural matters.

“It’s good to see him come back to his professional home. I am positive that he will continue to add value tot he firm’s corporate and regulatory practice and also strengthen our fintech sector offerings.”

Tiwari said he was “thrilled to re-join”.

Shroff’s statement echoes his sentiment when ex-AZB partner Dhruv Singhal “finally saw the light and returned home where he belongs”, after re-joining CAM in October 2019.

AZB had wished him well when we had reported his departure.

Not trying to detract from anyone's achievements, but all these awards rely on nominations from people that the panelists know. So these may be very good lawyers, but metrics of these sorts are quite meaningless.

Anu is a very bright and is a perfect fit for CAM's FRP practice. Honest, handsome, humble and loyal, his light shines brightest in the dark. Congratulations to CAM for getting him back.

Yes because unlike others, we know what our value is and what we bring to the table. We have no issues with competition who charge less. Good for them.

It’s quite amusing to see people leave (or in this case, defect) and then be taken back by CAM so easily. Especially when their departures had then stoked some vile comments by management. All these guys need to do is feed CAM some vitriol about Lady Z And AR. Spice that up with some ghar wapasi emotional tadka. Voila! that seems good enough to buy back loyalty points and encash them to get higher pay and more TLC than their ex-peers. Well played, Anu and Dhruv!

Why don’t you understand that people don’t want to stay in Ashwath’s team. Anu had many takers - he chose CAM. What’s the issue??

Start with dance practice and upload videos daily.

Then learn how to do boss’ daughter’s homework in a way that she “never forgets it”.

Practice how to wait endlessly outside the boss’ cabin that has glass doors and while he sees that you are waiting without having the courtesy to tell you to come later so you dont waste your time.

Learn to send threatening letters to every partner that quits you and joins competition and just be highly insecure.

Make sure to keep it all in the family and coin buzzwords like - two wheels of a bicycle, single leader model.. just about anything to deny the professionals their due share.

Blatantly promote your son and daughter up the tanks in blatant disregard of [...]

Finally, [...].

Much more unspeakable stuff

There, you get it now?
Yella Rascala 19 Sept 2020, 09:32

Relax. Its ok. Not everyone was lucky enough to be selected for dance practice or doing homework. Clearly your attempts to suck up to get in on either one by standing outside the door were not successful and maybe thats why you were not asked to come in. Yes it is a single leader model. Yes it is a two wheeled bicycle, yes there is blatant promotion of family members but in the end its the moniker, the name and repute on a national and global scale - something which most other firms are no where near. So if you dont like it then you are welcome to leave (and if you try to act smart, you WILL get a letter) because .......we are like this only...

MIND IT!!

If you're so full of vitriol for the hand that feeds you then why don't you leave. Surely that desk and chair outside the high court would be more exciting.
JJCool 20 Sept 2020, 11:08

Hand doesn't feed you for free, you know. I understand having loyal (as understood in CAM) insiders laugh at/ scoff at/ resent you is unsettling and provokes such churlish responses, but that's the bed the Shroffs have chosen to make.
