Piyush Mishra moves from Delhi to Mumbai with AZB

Piyush Mishra, former projects partner at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) Delhi, who had resigned four months ago, yesterday joined AZB & Partners in Mumbai as a partner.

Although having initially been in discussions to join AZB’s Delhi office, it is understood that he will be joining the Mumbai office in the national banking and finance practice of the firm (which includes projects, as well as insolvency and bankruptcy), led by Mumbai-based co-founding partner Bahram Vakil.

Vakil confirmed his joining, and commented: “Delighted. Truly.”

We had reported on 20 December 2017 that Mishra was in advanced talks with AZB Delhi, with CAM wishing him well but insisting he would serve out his notice period until March 2018.

The 2002 NLSIU Bangalore graduate had joined CAM from Luthra & Luthra in 2015, after having started his career at erstwhile Amarchand Mangaldas and spending two years at international law firm Allen & Overy in 2007.

Mishraji is living life on his own terms and not doing the servile punching bag role that you and me specialize in. Kudos to him for having survived which a dumbass like you would be unable to do whenever you leave the coattails of your boss. At least he has not been known to kneel down so as to make it convenient for boss as was your trademark.

...just another ploy to avoid various kinds of re-payments, I guess!

From what I know, the branches have always been separate firms. Guess they are just making it publicly clear through the notice to avoid any confusion with media.

Out of Curiosity: Who will head the projects department in Delhi now? Considering Hyd office is also without a projects head with Harita Rao's Departure? Hint Hint, is it Ajay Sawhney?

I hope Piyush can be part of inner circle of partners in azb and not just someone who executes

Highly unlikely, he is a good worker though and will be respected for it by the upper echelons of azb.

That logic should have worked in CAM too? Why didn’t it?
