The old CAM FRP practice at Trilegal has clearly not delivered. Wonder how many more ex Cammies heading back from Trilegal to Cam.

Why would they head back if they didn't deliver. Or are you implying CAM will just take them back out of the goodness of their heart - business case be damned?

Cam has the business which Trilegal thought would move but did not happen. Cyril is unmatched in this space.

Rutu clearly got the upper hand in the negotiation with CAM given she got the partner title in the rehire and not some ridiculous principal designate title. CAM probably needed her badly if they are seeing a lot of exits.

CAM is bleeding good talent left right and center! CSS is clueless like Pep!

IMO CAM is clueless because it doesn't understand or value talent, hard work etc. They look at people as disposable and easily replaceable

Exactly how many people have quit CAM?We hear a lot about partner exits but i heard that a large number of associates quit after a frustrating bonus round.

Of course they will. Rohan has quit too. Cyril [...] He is worried enough to do this.

Who says the old CAM FRP team has clearly not delivered, one rehire who returned to CAM with a partner position doesn't mean an entire team at Trilegal is not delivering or is returning to CAM.

Trilegal has a dream team in the FRP space (notwithstanding her exit) The kind of value shruti and garima with their new team deliver will be difficult to match (given that the shackles they operated with in CAM are off)!

Anyway, I hear that there has been a mass exodus (of junior and senior level resources) in the past year or so (not just from the FRP team). Hope she spoke to someone before making the move because there clearly seems to be a problem at CAM.

Actually, a Consultant at Trilegal was made Partner at CAM. Seems like Trilegal has added tremendous value in only 6 months!!! Any associate reading this should look to join Trilegal now, since it is the launch pad to be picked up as partner at bigger law firms!

Lol I thought it was Trilegal who hired in bulk for its partnership from CAM. What a stunning turn of events.

Actually, she was probably up for CAM partnership anyway in the ordinary course this year (based on when she made PA, and the batch making partner each year). So apart from losing her a year's bonus at CAM, don't think Trilegal added much value.

But interesting that you agree that CAM is bigger than TL
Counsel? 28 May 2021, 16:06

Wasn't she a counsel l and not consultant? Which is Trilegal's equivalent in terms of designation. Firms are free to use designations they like, why are you so bothered?

Oh well it had to happen. CAM FRP team is first hand trained projects of Yash. And that translates into their own capabilities too. Rutu was kind of invaluable to them and one of the nicer ones compared to the rest.

The way partners are exiting CAM, in the remote chance if they are offered equity they might just refuse and still exit.Maybe that unprofessional comment, and openly which is a rarity,is a reaction to some situation of that sort.

Ghar wapsi ke liye door khola hua tha usse jald band jar do kunki sab bhaag jaa rahe hain......Quick close the door that was opened for employee returns because everyone is running away and out from that door......the firm is seeing major exits, one rehire will not help....hee hee.....this is what happens when you treat employees as disposables

Is Trilegal the new AZB? People at CAM stay put - there are no rainbows and pots of gold on the other side.

First Ravi Bandhkavi leaves CAM and goes to Trilegal. Then Ravi leaves Trilegal to make a stunning return to CAM.

History repeats itself with Rutu. Seems like many more to follow.

Trilegal is truly the new AZB. A firm which can hire but cannot seem to retain. Toxic Trilegal culture should be called Trilethal.
CAM seems worried 28 May 2021, 02:31

Rohan on notice period, so not surprised with this at all. Good to know two young partners at Trilegal are scaring veterans like Cyril and Yash enough to make them pull such stunts. New cam partners won’t be happy to see a lawyer handed partnership without any interviews etc, just as a prize for wapsi. Could she have made the cut without a Trilegal counsel tag? Clearly Trilegal FRP is doing something right - why else would Cyril feel the need to suddenly shore up his lot.
Jia dhadak 28 May 2021, 03:52

Just on Cyril being scared- Attrition will bother anyone giving a damn about their firm. But FRP wasnt even a word the market knew before CAM even had a team for it.
Duo 28 May 2021, 03:54

These are all bit players and get fed off from transaction teams who share some work with the FRP teams. The fact is that India has a duopoly as far as securities regulatory work goes and 4 individuals (most in firms) who control the CCI market. Not much outside these is solid enough to call a practice.
Dream team 28 May 2021, 07:04

The real FRP practices in the market are Khaitan, AZB and CAM. The dream team can keep dreaming. Cyril quote on Barandbench speaks volumes. Not a big law firm.

Ya that quote on moving to a smaller platform speaks volumes to CSS frustration on losing people, [...] "Partner" level person leaving..........no wonder it looks like employees are bolting from CAM to other firms
