Desai & Diwanji promotes five to salaried partner in Mumbai

Desai & Diwanji has announced the promotion of five associate partners to partner in Mumbai yesterday.

Ketaki Gor, Aneesh Gupte, Siddharth Mody, Shyam Pandya and Natasha Treasurywala were promoted to the firm’s salaried partnership.

Al five are active in corporate, private equity and M&A work with between eight to 10 years of experience each, according to Mumbai partner Monika Deshmukh.

However, Pandya also specialises in capital markets, Gor also does banking and project finance work, and Mody has expertise in the real estate and power sectors.

All graduated from GLC Mumbai.

In January the firm had promoted five to salaried partner in Delhi, shortly after its office head Amit Khansaheb left to join BMR Legal.

Deshmukh declined to confirm the total number of partners at the firm, citing firm policy; a report by consultancy RSG put the number of partners at Desai & Diwanji at 24 at the beginning of the year.

@1 - there is no equity in Desai & Diwanji for the rank and file, only for family and the old guard...

"Deshmukh declined to confirm the total number of partners at the firm, citing firm policy;" - What a joke

Seriously?! Firm policy???? Do they have a policy for anything? The people in that firm need some lessons in professionalism. Having said that the 5 new partners are a breath of fesh air. Congrats to them.

Does anybody know how much these salaried partners make? From what I know of Desai diwanjis pay structure, it's probably less than what senior associates in other firms get paid. Am I right?

Congratulations to them (regardless of the pay, the tag is worth enough!)

I understand that the new ones make between Rs 25 Lacs to Rs 45 Lacs a year depending upon perception and performance. The structure isn't very transparent and different partners (even at the same seniority) can get vastly different amounts. I must admit that the range is an estimate based on some known figures but it could well be higher than that (and hopefully not lower).

right about loyalty. the associate-partner tag they have matches salaries to principal associate salaries of a couple of the biggest firms (but even there in the mid to lower end of band with low bonus). partner there is higher that associate-partner (and therefore definitely more than pre-partner designations at the 2-3 largest firms)- but the increase is modest start with...

GLC continues, without much fanfare, to do pretty alright.
