Indus promotes 3 to partner: Minhaz Lokhandwala, Shreya Suri, Sowmya Kumar • +30 other promos

IndusLaw has promoted three of its fee-earners to partnership across three offices.

The new partners are:

  • Minhaz Lokhandwala (Mumbai, transactions; ILS Pune)
  • Shreya Suri (Delhi, tech and advisory; SLS Pune),
  • Sowmya Kumar (Bangalore, employment, anti-bribery and anti-corruption; Nalsar Hyderabad).

The firm has also made 10 promotions to principal associate level (see below).

A total of 18 associates were made senior associates (see graphic below).

Two non-law graduates have also been elevated to the senior manager rung, specialising in tax and company secretarial work.

Grapes are sour- try your luck if you think it is that easy- Most of the partners in KCO are home grown and have contributed significant value addition to the Firm- It shows in overall growth trajectory of KCO in last 12-15 years. You keep ranting but kudos to KCO for recognising its talent and remain transparent with its policies. Soon it will be the Bakers and Slaughters of this country.

That is an incorrect comparison for all parties concerned. Indus has at least around 45 partners. Not a boutique by any count in Indian standards. Hardly 6-7 firms in the country above their headcount.

So, in what way are these lawyers, partners? There’s seemingly no equity. Is it the fact that they draw a salary of 60L-1Cr PA? Also, isn’t 60L-1Cr PA the sort of comp that partners at Tier 1 firms like JSA/SAM make?

Koi chance nahi for them now. There are many salaried partners inside the system who are ahead of them. Indus may have a problem where the gap between the EPs and most of the rest are quite wide.
