JSA promotes 3 from salary to equity partnership of 37

J Sagar Associates (JSA) has promoted three of its non-salaried partners into its equity partnership circle that is now 37 strong.

  • Arka Mookerjee, finance, capital markets; Mumbai; LLB: University of Pune 2006.
  • Roy Chowdhury corporate, M&A, private equity and finance, fintech; Bangalore; LLB: SLS Pune 2004.
  • Tony Verghese corporate, M&A and private equity practice; Bangalore; LLB: Bangalore University.

Mukherjee had been promoted to salaried partner in 2014 in a round of nine salaried partner promotions; Chowdhury had been promoted to salaried partner in 2013.

Verghese had been made up to salaried partner in 2011.

In a press release, JSA said:

Beyond their obvious legal skills and business knowledge, these three young partners have, shown through their hard work and collegial attitude that they are poised to take the firm to greater heights. We are excited to have them on our journey, their elevation being testimony to the firm’s commitment to organic growth.

JSA believes in recognising merit and giving our young attorneys space to achieve their true potential. We welcome them and wish them many more successful years with us.

The promotions take effect from 1 April.

Equity Partner take home includes- Excel Sheets of WIP, Billing, Recovery, Stress, lesser hair than the previous day.

they will easily have to make 3cr+ or thereabouts!

Well not really. On an average yea, probably true but there are equity partners who's book in not even 3 crores* (let alone their take home).

*figures may have since improved. But just saying, early years of equity aren't necessarily as lucrative.

Anybody who says that an equity entrant makes guaranteed 3 crores + in any firm including JSA is either deliberately lying or really has no clue how it works.
