Seth Dua & Associates litigation partner Neeraj Chaudhry has joined Kochhar & Co as a partner in the litigation department, which now consists of 15 lawyers inclusive of four partners in Delhi.

Chaudhry (pictured) joined Kochhar & Co on 1 June 2010 after having worked at Seth Dua between September 2008 and May 2010, previous to which he was associate partner litigation with Paras Kuhad for two years.

He said: “I look forward to bigger challenges and broad base my litigation activity in my current role.

“It has to be a role that combines executing and arranging of business development aspects, which in fact is an unsaid requirement when you join at a certain level. Your growth path has to fit in well with the organisation’s requirements.”

He completed his LLB degree from Delhi University in 1990 and started practice in the chambers of PH Parekh & Co in the Supreme Court. He moved on to become an associate at the Delhi office of Amarchand Mangaldas from 1998 to 2000 where he was involved in the firm’s banking litigation initiatives.

Chaudhry added that his departure from Seth Dua was very amicable with no conflict of interest of any kind. “It’s a small industry and I’ve been known to Mr. Kochhar and other members of the firm for a long time,” he commented.

Seth Dua senior partner Atul Dua noted that his firm does have a strong litigation team in place while wishing Chaudhry best in his future role.

In April Kochhar & Co also promoted litigation partner Syed Naqvi to its senior partnership.
